I've been writing a lot of stories set in the Marvel and DC universe lately, and I thought it'd be nice to have someone who is a bit of a comics fan to edit them, possibly on a recurring basis. We'll see. The story I'm working on right now is centered on Spider-Man, though Catwoman crossovers into it. It has to do with, natch, a team-up between Black Cat and Catwoman, which leads to lesbian sex, a threesome or two, and some 'webplay.' The pairings are only male/female and female/female, with maybe a little bondage but no real "call me mistress!" stuff. I've written a few stories already, so I'd like to think I have the basics down--I'm really looking for a second opinion by someone who's at least moderately familiar with the Big Two comic companies, and can keep a close eye on the characters' voices and such. I like to keep my writing to a nebulous pre-OMD and pre-Nu52 setting, so don't worry about being more familiar with current comics canon than, say, any given video game adaptation.
I'm still brainstorming at the moment, but I'm going to start writing very soon and I have a pretty firm outline in place; wouldn't mind bouncing ideas off someone. Hopefully, there'd be a pretty quick turnaround on the editing, but I can be very patient. As for length, my stories can be as short as five thousand words or as long as twenty thousand, though I try to keep them as streamlined as possible.
What else am I looking for? I go for a real sense of verisimilitude in my work. I don't just wanna string a bunch of "OH GOD YES FUCK ME HARDER!" together and call it a day--I want my stories to be able to pass for a comic book you could pick up off the shelf, if the editor was asleep on the job and the writer was something of a pervert. The plotting should be credible, the jokes should be funny, and yeah, the sex should be hot. So, again, the more familiar you are with the comics, the better. I know it's a lot to ask, finding a comic book fan on the internet, but who knows? I might get lucky. And I love long, detailed, well-thought-out criticism. If you like to really get into a story, I want to hear from you.
It would also be nice to find someone who's on the same page as me when it comes to what constitutes a *good* comic. I'm a fan of the Spider-Marriage, think Harley Quinn's original costume is the best and the rest are pretty much eyesores, enjoyed the Arkham Asylum games and the Nolan movie but don't think they're the be-all and end-all of Batman, and couldn't stand Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man. I don't expect someone to see eye-to-eye with me 100%, but I'd like someone who gets where I'm coming from, since I tend to write stories that embrace some of the sillier aspects of comics, not the more grimdark/misogynistic stuff. And while I don't have a sample of my current story yet, here's a bit from a continuing series I'm working on that I think captures my writing style:
Jean looked around the room, feeling ashamed of herself for only now realizing that her friends were locked up with her. There was Scott—no, not him—Logan, Piotr, Ororo, Kurt... even Hank McCoy who had gone off to join the Avengers. All seated in similar chairs as hers, all lined up in a circle. Ororo was across from her, and it hurt Jean's heart to see the worshipped goddess denied the freedom she embodied so much.
"Ah, good, you're up." Jean recognized the voice, that Gwyneth Paltrow accent that wanted oh so very much to be British. She hadn't known she could be angrier at whoever had captured and imprisoned her and her friends, but hearing that voice...
Emma Frost, White Queen of the Hellfire Club's Inner Circle, dominatrix, telepath, and supervillain, strutted into the room like she owned it and everyone inside. What grated on Jean was that both, for the moment, were true. And that Emma was dressed in a tightly laced white corset that did wonders for her breasts and waist; by contrast, her white thong did nothing for her pubis but deflect accusations that she was totally nude. Her legs were actually covered more, encased in thigh-high boots of white leather and shielded from behind by the long cape of white fur that Jean could imagine coming off a polar bear, as if global warming weren't doing them enough favors.
She was a beautiful, intensely sexual woman, and Jean fucking hated her.
Emma did a circuit of the room, eying all her captives in turn like she was reviewing a purchase. Wolverine met with disappointment—the short, hairy mutant was an acquired taste even for his comrades in the X-Men. But the others were all approved, Emma's eyes lighting up in turn for each hard body and skintight uniform. She even took off her right glove to feel the thick, shaggy hair on Beast's chest, then the lighter and softer fuzz on Nightcrawler's face. Both met with hums of approval.
"I got into the wrong business. All day long, I'm surrounded by thugs. Even my fellows in the Inner Circle—chubby Leland, pompous Sebastian, and Donald Pierce... his cybernetic parts are far more appealing than what's left of his flesh. But you, Jeannie, you get to spend your hours surrounded by these fine specimens of evolution. Even your animals look like the toast of a furry convention. And here I'd heard that Dr. McCoy had a snout!" Emma laughed to herself.
So... is there anyone I haven't bored to death with all this prattling?
