Editing stories for your own use

I have copied stories off for personal use, so I can read them where I do not have internet access. But the only changes I make are to put all the chapters into one document and to format the chapter or sub chapter headings so that I can use the navigation function in Word.

Other than that, I wouldn't think of making any other types of alterations to someone else's work.
