Editing old Stories and resubmitting.

Hello Oh knowledgeable AH'ers!


Yes, you guessed it, I want to ask a question


Basically, I've decided to edit some of my beginning pieces (inspired by the back click thread and the Hot rating thread) and well I wonder how I go about it, I've never submitted an edit of an already accepted story before.

Anyone know what I need to do?

Well, one way is to delete the story and resubmit -- but obviously that'd clear your votes/views/PCs (which could be a plus, in some instances).

If you just want to edit, you just submit the edited version with EDIT preceeding the title. Lit will swap it with your edited version.

Ahh thanks Imp...I don't think i'll delete and resubmit -as that seems a bit like cheating *L* Second option then I think. I'll just feel better having the edited versions up,even if all my scores stay the same

I understand. I've done it as well -- to correct errors missed during proof/edit.

However, when I make BIG changes, I delete & resubmit -- such as two I recently pulled to convert from 1st to 3rd person POV.

Yeah,it's not a big change, it's just literally a bit of tidying up, so just doing the edit thing will work for me

EL: When I resubmitted my 'Seducing Dawn' story, I completely removed it from Lit and resubmitted it as it was a complete rewrite and I didn't want it sailing under the same flag as the original. I guess it depends on how much you're planning on changing your older works.

All you have to do is submit the edited story with the same title as the one you want to replace, and add '(EDITED)' after the title. I've done it and it works fine.

It probably wouldn't hurt to add something to the comment box, like, "Edited version of story. Please replace old version with this one."

BTW, if you want a story removed, you use the same technique. You submit the title, and after the title you write '(REMOVE)'. I also write "Please remove this story where the cut&past text goes.

There are real people involved in reading these stories, and they read your comments.
