Hey y'all!

I've been working on a story as a gift for my husband and I think it's about time to get some editing/critique.

Any takers???

In need of an editor...

Greetings to you all,

Until now, I've written only poems. I've always planned on writing stories but needed to get back my feel for words and writing again before giving attention to writing short stories. I've finally moved on to stories now, having written my first offical story.

I sent emails to a few folks in the "editors" list. It's been five days, I still haven't heard a word back. I asked, in one of the poetry threads, for an editor. One person said she would do it but it might take a few days. I appreciated her offer and sent the story to her, that was a few days ago, I guess she probably has a lot going on and hasn't had the chance to give her attention to it yet. I wrote to a critic who has been leaving comments on my poetry, a couple days ago. As him and I didn't hit it off well in the beginning, and since I haven't heard back from him (can't blame him...I even wrote a short poem on his constant critical views on my work, though since that poem his critiques have been much more humane.)

I would really love to polish my story before submitting it. I know there must be some word usage and or grammatical errors. Would anyone on this thread have a little spare time to review, edit my story?

Thankyou all for your time reading this.
Sincerely,
Wolf

That is a real problem and the Laurels and Manu have tried to minimise it by putting:

- The editor should contact you with a yes or no answer within 72 hours. (If you don't hear back after a reasonable time frame, email us with the editor name so we know to check with the editor to make sure they're still interested in editing.)

in the FAQ. I suggest you do just that, because these people get honest editors who stick to the rules a bad name.

....thnks for the suggestion snooper...

I appreciate your suggestion....but it's a personal rule I've had since I was a lad..."Thou shall not nark on others." The editors list is great...but I've had no luck at it. An "Alphashewolf" from another thread has volunteered for the job...and I'm accepting her offer. Narking on others...though...thats something from Orwells "1984"....can't do it, won't do it....couldn't do it if I wanted to...my fingers wouldn't type an email to do so if I asked them:cool:
Sincerely,
Wolfman

Now that's just silly. Consider how much more helpful the volunteer editor program would be if ONLY people willing and able to volunteer were listed. It has nothing to do with being a narc. You would be helping others who may become discouraged after sending a couple of requests and not receiving a response.

Seems that a lot of the editors don't return mail, maybe they're not editing anymore, but it'd be nice that if they're not interested, they say it. It'd also be nice if could see that they're still actively editing......well anywho those am's my two cents, lol. :p
