My first story was just accepted and posted on the site, however, I'd like to make some changes to it. Is that possible, or is it frozen now? Thanks.

Follow the link Naoko posted. Keep in mind, however, that when you submit an edited version, it effectively becomes a new submission. All votes, views, and comments on the original version will go bye-bye and it will start from scratch.

If you decide to submit an edited version, you might want to include an author's note at the beginning to explain why you made the changes.

This is why it's always a good idea to read through your submissions and make sure what you're posting is what you want. ;)

I haven't experienced the process, but my understanding is that if you file an edit (rather than deleting it and filing a new version), the votes, views, comments, and ratings don't go away. Can other confirm/deny this?

That's not true.

I've submitted several edits, and the only thing that changes is the story content. Everything else remains the same.

All you have to do is submit the edited version, and for the title, put in the story name along with "EDITED". I even leave a message in the note saying "This is a story edit. Thanks!"

One thing to keep in mind is that sometimes the story edit will be approved, but it may take a while for the actual effect to take place.

Ah, it seems things have changed while I was away. I had, at one point, re-submitted a story, and found that views, votes, and comments had all been reset. Obviously, that has changed.

So, disregard at least some of what I said. ;)

Resubmission is not the same as a submitting an edit I think. You might have deleted and resubmitted?

As long as I've been here, an edit doesn't replace the comments or votes. A delete and resubmit does.

You know, it's been six (or more) years since I submitted that edited story, and I honestly can't recall if I deleted and re-submitted, or submitted an EDIT version. Given the evidence in the posts above, I'm inclined to think I probably did the former.

So, the egg's on me. ;)

Still, it's always best to make sure what you submit is the version of the story you want to be read.

Yes. Though I'm really finicky about spacing and formatting and such, so I mostly submit edits for that reason. Sad, I know.

Well, now I'm wondering if I should submit a few edits of my own. I know of at least two or three that could use it.

Content or formatting edits? I really hope my madness wasn't contagious. :p

Mostly simple grammatical errors, but some content buffoonery I could have avoided had I taken the time to heed my own advice and gone over it once or twice.

At this point, though, it's almost moot to consider it. Those stories have been sitting on Lit for four or more years.

Some of mine that really need substantial rewrites, have been on Literotica for 10 years. I don't think I'll bother. I'll just leave them as they are.
