Editing after publishing.

Hi all,

Two questions
1) can you edit a story after publishing? I submitted a story but forgot to call it chapter 11 can this be do e after it is published?
2) cant add a chapter to a series. I cant add chapter 10 to my series.

Any ideas?

In this case, rather than trying to fix it myself, I'd send a private message to the site submissions editor, Laurel (the envelope icon at the top right of this page), explaining what you need done.

Resubmit the whole story, same title plus the word EDIT.

Explain in a Note to the Editor what you want to do, that is, add Ch.11 to the title.

You've been caught out by auto-sequencing algorithm. You need to number your chapters 01, 02, 03... so when you get to 10, 11 follows after.

If you plan (please don't) a hundred chapter story, you have to start at 001, and follow with the leading zero.

By the sounds of it, you might need to retitle your first nine chapters. It's worth a PM to Laurel though, explaining the problem. She might fix it for you (but I don't know what would be quicker).

It takes a week or two (edits are low priority). All scores and comments remain unchanged. Nobody knows about it but you and the site, the changes just go live one day.
