I understand that edited stories are the lowest priority, but the FAQ information needs to be updated to reflect that "usually in 48 hours" is no longer the case. Perusing other posts in this forum, I'm seeing where edited stories sit for 3 weeks or more, or get removed entirely. What's up with that?

I think you're just misreading the FAQ entry on edits. It says "Once approved by moderators, edited stories may take up to 48 hours to appear correctly on the site as story pages are regenerated on a timed schedule."

Story edits have taken between one and four weeks to be approved by admin, and has for as long as I've been here at least. Then once the edit has been approved, the edit disappears from your Pending list and then it can take a day or two for the changes to be visible in the live story page. That is all expected behavior!

Thanks for clearing that up!

I have waited five weeks on my EDITED story so far. I accidentally changed the eye color on a character in the second part of my story. A reader specifically complimented the characters eye color in the first part so I wanted to correct my error and make the story consistent. I used windiff to verify that I only corrected the eye color in the second part of the story and didn't make any other changes. Even if EDITED worked (which it doesn't seem to) I would only use it for errors that significantly affected the impact of a story on the reader.

Edits definitely work, but they will almost always take four or five weeks to be processed, sometimes longer. if it's in your Pending tab, keep it there and don't touch it!

I think most of us have come to the same conclusion though, it's usually not worth the trouble of submitting an edit unless the error is really egregious.

I've only ever submit edits when I made a mistake in my HTML that caused a serious screw up in the layout of a story, and yes they each took between three and five weeks to go through 🤷🏼

It would be nice to have it mentioned in the FAQ. I have submitted edit almost three weeks ago and I was already becoming worried that I have messed it somehow... Good to know that´s probably not the case :D
