Eden of the Night -- wh
Chapter 1
1.1 Doctor
1.1.1 Doctor's cabinet
Doctor's cabinet, doctor, nurse and Mary Marconi (Cleo). Mary is dressed up. She coughs just one time.
Doctor -- (to Mary) You are a very healthy girl. I do not see any problem. (to nurse) When should the test be ready?
Nurse - Today.
Doctor -- (to Mary) It's only a formality.
Mary -- But I pay for it.
Doctor -- On rare occasions, it pays off to have a test on time, and, well, just in case, we don't want to be sued, do we?
Mary -- (coughing a little) And what about my lungs?
Doctor -- They're perfect. You have muscle pains. Warm up carefully before physical exercise, and... cut smoking in half.
Mary -- (utters a sigh, and says) Thanks doc; and at the door Have a nice weekend; and leaves. Same to you is heard.
Mary passes the doctor's secretary window. Secretary stops her with,
Secretary -- Miss Marconi?! You can pick up your tests Monday or else I'll send them to you by mail. Will you pay now?
Mary No, send the bill with the tests. Goodbye.
Secretary -- Goodbye
1.1.2 Doctor's parking lot
Mary leaves doctor's premises and heads toward the elevator, then she sees EXIT sign and makes a quick decision, goes to the staircase and playfully jumping and dancing descends to the ground level and leaves the building. Brightness and heat slow her down. She is on the parking lot heading toward her car (no roof).
1.1.3 A parking conversation
Doctor, his breath quickened, catches up with Mary at her car.
Doctor -- I recognized you. You are Cleo.
Mary's expression is unplesant when she responds,
Mary Here I am Miss Marconi, Mary Marconi.
Doctor -- I am sorry Miss Marconi, I saw you dancing at Playfool. May I see you Monday night? We may drive somewhere away.
Mary -- (sarcastically) What's wrong with the weekend?
Doctor -- You know, family and all these, ... You would not have to pay me for the visit.
Mary -- I thought that the doctor and the patient are not...
Doctor -- I am not a doctor now. Outside of my office, I am a man.
Mary -- (smiling) And what if I am better?
Doctor -- Pardon me?
Mary -- What if I am a better hooker than you are a doctor?
Doctor -- (after a short pause) I will add some...
Mary -- Well, I am not a hooker, I am a dancer.
Doctor -- (almost offended and apologetic) Oh! I did not say you are a hooker.
Mary -- You only thought so. What's wrong with being a hooker anyway?
Doctor -- Well, ...
Mary -- Is it worse than being a Go-Go dancer?
Doctor -- Yes, ...
Mary -- I didn't know that it's bad to be a Go-Go dancer.
Doctor -- Oh, no ...
Mary -- (laughing) Isn't it?
Doctor, red-faced laughs uneasily too. In the meantime Mary is already in her car, and leaves the parking lot.
