I have been up almost all night long on Ebay! I have spent way more than I should have... that is if I "win" my bids... which I usually do. I love that stupid site! :D I need to stop somehow. I wish I hadn't let my family talk me into using it and telling me how great it was. Sometimes I'm really pathetic. Oh well.

Anyone else wanna share an Ebay weakness?? Or some other site? Confess!

And BTW, how do you help it? I need to hear all those creative answers people!!! :D

i decided what was more important, something i bought off ebay and didn't really need, or save up and get the engagement ring Cindy described before we were even dating. i felt that was way more important. i also banned myself from ebay for a year. i broke a few times and had to at least look stuff up, but after the first week i stopped.

EBAY IS A FUCKING EVIL WEBSITE!!!!! ....and that's why i couldn't help myself before. is there an ebay anonymous?

my name is tmuyo and i'm a recovering ebay addict...i've been clean for 3 months now.

*walks into thread* Hello. I'm an Ebay addict too. Been going to Ebay since early '99. Got out of it for awhile when I found a new addiction, namely Lit, but have gotten into it again lately. Wonder if they have a patch or something for Ebay addicts??

:p

Ugh Angel linked me the other day and I have tried not to go back since. Fighting the battle baby fighting the battle ;)

You know, ebay is where I learned that people buy used underwear. Then it was mentioned here. Still gives me the willies.

And I do not want to know why someone would want them.

And I'm still trying to figure out what someone wanted with a bottle of the sellers urine.

they do it just counts as in out of country shipment. usually a little more in s&h cost.

Drug testing? To use instead of their own? Would that work/

That's what I've been thinking. Then there's also the fetish thing. Like if the buyer's someone who can't find another person in RL to do that for him/her. I'll stick with the drug testing idea. Less twisted.

AFM, if depends on the seller. Some people will ship to most main countries around the world.

Hmm....i think that's pretty bad is it ships to the UK!

Wonder if I can buy the video of Totoro.....hmmm...

why waste your money on that?

what the hell is the obsession with that thing anyway?

I found eBay in early 1999 and was addicted for a year, until I found Lit. I am a collector and I can find things in my specialties on eBay that take years and years of hunting in the real world. It is a great place, if you know the value of what you are bidding on and then don't get carried away by the "I MUST win" attitude. The first week there, I found childhood books there that I'd been looking for in bookstores for probably 20 years. Almost anything you want, you can find there.

And yes, I discovered you could buy used underwear there when I was demonstrating to someone that you could buy anything, "probably even underwear." I assumed I'd find brand new still packaged Fruit of the Loom, or something like that. Oops.

Somebody over there once bought "Nothing" for a penny. Still can't get over that one.

Wonder if the buyer could of gone after the seller for false advertising if he actualy sent him anything in the mail?

"You call this nothing? It's an empty box. That's something, asshole."

:D

Winter of 1999/2000, someone on the East Coast tried to sell all the snow they were buried with. Post pictures, a great description, etc. Did a daily update telling everyone if the plow had gotten to them yet, what the family was doing while snowed in, etc. Delivery terms were great- you had to come pick it up yourself, as much as you could carry away.

You should of seen some of the stuff they were selling during all the hype of the Blair Witch Project. People were buying bags of dirt from the woods they filmed that movie among other things. And someone said they had a pair of Heathers (the main character) used underware that they were selling. I don't know what's crazier: the fact that people are selling this stuff or that people are buying it.

I've been buying from eBay/Yahoo/Amazon auctions since 1999. There have (definitely) been times when my habit of bidding/winning was out of control. When that happened, other people in my life usually caught on after a few months and urged me out of my singleminded determination to spend everything i could on more... more... this different thing... another one of these...

I collect unmounted colored gemstones. I collect art.

Both of those involve substantial investitures of time to go out and find in the 5 senses world of stores and dealers and galleries. Both of those are well-represented categories at online auctions. If one knows her market, one can find incredible opportunities and deals at online auctions. The danger lies in not realizing (and it creeps over you you before you know it is there, too) that there are far more good buys at auction then you'll ever have the funds to take advantage of.

~sigh~ So hard to let THAT really cool wonderful amazing deal go by though, isn't it? Better just bid on that one... just that one... won't make another bid... really.... oh. Oh! And look at THAT! Wow! Haven't seen one of those at that price in, well... can't let THAT go by... gotta bid on that one too... but nothing else...

Are you sure we aren't related? Shaking my head.
Honest I was only looking.

Bid? What bid? It was the bird he must have done it.
