There are a number of writers here at Lit who produce mostly poetry. Others of us dabble there occasionally, always fearing the “real” poets will stone us from the category but driven, nonetheless, to express ourselves in a somewhat poetic manner.
However, most of the lovely, sexy, wildly erotic, angry, bewildered, hurt, lost, pantingly hot, sometimes achingly tender poetry here doesn’t get read. It’s sad.
There is an enormous selection of poems that diverge widely with regard to subject matter; something for all kinks, all tastes, is available. Trust me.
For instance, Ray Dario just posted one called “Gang Bang” (http://www.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=16882) which ought to appeal to those who head straight for the “Loving Wives” and “Group Sex” story categories.
From a distinctly different angle, come the many marvelously sensual and cuttingly erotic poems that WriterDom (http://www.literotica.com/stories/memberpage.php?uid=1295) has contributed to Lit. (Did you know that a book of his poetry is due to be published and released this month?)
There are many Lit authors who mostly write stories, the stories you know and go out of your way to read, but who also try poetry on occasion. There are others who remain mostly within the realm of poetry to express their thoughts. In any case, I’d like to invite you all to visit the Poetry sections of Lit and sample, just a couple times a week, a few of the marvelous flavors one can taste at will. Vote, too, because Poetry is the pathetically neglected stepchild of all Lit categories. Send feedback, even if it’s to say you were moved… we so appreciate hearing from you.

For those of you who feel somehow intimidated by perusing poetry, here’s a famous bit of advice:
How To Eat a Poem
by Eve Merriam
Don't be polite.
Bite in.
Pick it up with your fingers and lick the juice that
may run down your chin.
It is ready and ripe now, whenever you are.
You do not need a knife or fork or spoon
or plate or napkin or tablecloth.
For there is no core
or stem
or rind
or pit
or seed
or skin
to throw away.
