Easter Snow!

Did anybody else in the UK see the snow today?

It felt more like Christmas for a few minutes than Easter, lol

It's snowing here but the slope opposite faces North and the wind is from the South.

A father and two pre-school children just turned up with a sledge. As they waited to cross the road the children were dancing with excitement. As they got to the other side their bodies slumped.

"It's gone, Daddy," one said sorrowfully. (It was never there because everything is on the South side of the road)

However they are enjoying themselves sliding on the wet grass as the snow continues to fall lightly.

We went to the first open day of a local garden.

Everything was covered in snow. The owners expressed surprise that we actually wanted to go around the garden. We took some pictures of daffodils slumped under snow bonnets, and other flowers emerging from the snow cover. We used film cameras because I didn't want to expose my digital camera to the snow and later sleet.

The tea-room was nearly full. Except for us, everyone was a known regular. We soon found out why. The food is home-cooked by the owners and their family and is delicious. Apparently you have to book the roast dinners and there can be a waiting list. We had quiche, with new potatoes and salad. We declined the choice of gateaux or lemon meringue. The table next to us had the roast lamb followed by gateaux. They obviously enjoyed their meal.

We will be returning when the weather improves. It is a garden that should be seen at several times of the year but we were their first visitors ever to tour it in the snow.

We drove on through Kent to visit the village where we lived when we were first married (36 years ago on next Tuesday). We were surprised how little the village had changed especially the housing estate we had lived on. The shrubs and bushes were larger, some houses had extended, but the feel was the same. We met the current owners of our old house who have owned it for three years. It is still recognisable including the canted front path that dates from the builders' incompetence in 1968.

By the time we returned home all the snow around our current house had gone. More may be on the way because my brother who lives 100 miles North of us reported that he had to dig his car out of the snow to go to church. Usually he would have walked but he has his children and grandchildren visiting and the littlest legs couldn't cope with the snow.

We had about 2 inches of snow but it was nearly all melted by lunchtime -my daughter loved it :D

We still have snow from January. It hasn't snowed for a week or two now.

Nothing here. A few flurries driven by the north wind.
