Earth 3: OOC

I dunno. I'm not used to this 'playing an established character' thingie.

It's a brand-new movie universe.

Vic, could Vail make a brand-new character?

I mean, the character of "Guardian" in this was unlike any version of Guardian I've ever met-- his name wasn't Jim, Jake, or Mal, for one thing.

And then there was Jenny Olsen instead of Jimmy.

What's the verdict like, there?

Lemme handle this cause I'm of the same vein..... Look at the traditional DC characters. Look at their powers, skills and history. Look at how you can tweek the character into something or someone you could be. Build around that and make the original into your vision of said character.......

That's all he means by playing an established character.....

And one of these days I will get Vic to get over his stoopid obsession with the color green......:D

I guess I wonder why do it that way at all? I'm not being critical, I'm just curious.
Though I did play in a Sin City thread so...

Did you watch Smallville? Part of the fun for us DCiphiles was watching for what "Cannon character" they would turn into a "Meteor freak"......... All they were doing was looking through DC's Huge catalog of characters and changing them up for characters in the show.....

Continuity is the mother of reinvention.

And, unlike "Flashpoint," some of us can reinvent ingeniously.

But I agree that Vail's true magic lies in her power of pure-from-the-roots invention.

Whoa whoa whoa...don't go putting words into my mouth. I said nothing about you not being crazy
:cattail:

*sigh* Damn. And I was so hopeful..... But you do get the feel right?:) Look at the characters, see what you can pervert to your own personal concept, and run with it till Vic squeals.....

Although i would prefer cannon, or as Chas has done a reimaigined cannon character. I will accept as both Chas and wyld suggested someone with similar powers as someone but with an original everything else.

Oh and Wyld, Good look ;)

Rose-who-what?

Rose McCrimmon is a recurring character of mine, my greatest conceit as a writer.

Brax wrote in a storyline with a good guy version of Metallo, and the Rose in that story could copy elements and energies she touched like Amazing Man or Kevin Levin. I was hoping to bring back an incarnation not unlike that one.

I'd have to completely re-invent the background since this reality hasn't seen Luthor yet. Not too terribly difficult to do, but it would take some work.

Luthor exists, though.

There were LuthorCorp (LexCorp?) trucks getting bowled over and/or blowed up in the brouhaha.

True, but kryptonite is an unknown, & if he does have a hard-on for Supes, it's just beginning, so there is no reason to build a weapon system to combat the Big Blue.

And speaking of cyborgs, you see the new Robocop trailer? It looks surprisingly good.

I need to go see this trailer!

...Metropolis' devastation and Clark's subsequent wrecking of seeker drones looking for Superman's homestead could be reason to develop countermeasures against this Big Blue new unknown.

It could be Kryptonian tech recovered from the destruction, and its power source could be a big green surprise to everyone involved except maybe Jor-El's technological ghost.

Truth. But we don't know he's evil.
Wouldn't it be interesting to make him a little more grey in character?

Last frontrunners I heard about were Mark Strong and Bryan Cranston. If they aren't good at playing shades of grey that turn out to be The Devil Incarnate, I don't know who would be.

Terra

Name: Tara Markov
Age: 24
Status: She has only just started making public appearances, and still finds her powers somewhat difficult to control. She's much better hitting giant robots with boulders than stopping muggers without breaking half their bones.

Powers: Geokinesis/Terrakinesis, the power and ability to manipulate and control the earth at will, and all earthly substances and materials, and create shapes out of solid rock.
Unknown to Tara, these powers are not the result of mutation, but rather representative of her bond with the planet itself as its avatar. As she comes to understand this status, her powers may increase in depth.

(Maybe I'll write something more interesting in a few cups of coffee)

I'ma just quietly gaze at this for awhile.

Lookin' good, girl.

Just watched that trailer.

Yeah, that seems kind of cool. I miss the stainless-steel silver, though.
