Cats are notorious for what they'll eat (and where they like to get comfy). If you have a guitar case, you can guarantee it'll find a way to get into it and shed (which is virtually impossible to get out). The worst is when a friend told me a cat ate his guitar string (I've seen them lick the metal). It swallowed enough that he couldn't get it out and had to make an emergency run to the vet. I always wrapped my discarded strings and put them in envelopes after that...just to be safe. They really are worse than children.

Do you know, friends of ours had their cat in for emergency surgery for something very similar.

The cat got into a spool of thread and swallowed a bunch of it.

Turns out it had become strangulated within the cat's intestines.

Cats are amazing.
