I appologize in advance if this has already been posted...proof that natural selection hasn't quite reached all intended targets yet...?

The Associated Press

PORT BYRON, N.Y. (August 21, 7:53 p.m. ADT) - A man who admitted he operated a lawnmower while drunk was sentenced to a year in jail after showing up intoxicated for his court-imposed community service. Michael Kocur's blood alcohol level of .09 was under the legal limit of .10, but abstaining from alcohol was a condition of his probation, his lawyer Norm Chirco said.

Cayuga County Judge Peter E. Corning, who gave him two previous chances to stay out of jail, sentenced him Monday to one year in jail.

Kocur, 39, was arrested in July 2001 for driving a riding lawnmower while intoxicated. It was his fifth drunken-driving offense, the first involving a lawn mower.

He pleaded guilty and was sentenced in May to serve on an inmate work crew each weekend for one year. After Kocur missed two weekends, the judge ordered Kocur to show up
or his community service or be jailed. Kocur showed up intoxicated Sunday.

I don't think he was drunk. I think that he suffered an exposure to toxic gasoline vapor while he was filling up his mower prior to mowing the lawn.

Poor fellow. If only he had a suit like me, he could have avoided that nasty jail term with big men who will make him do yukky things.

I remember a video from one of those cop shows....
I think it was either Cops or Wildest Police Chases.

Anyway, the guy was drunk on his riding mower going down the side of the street in his neighborhood with alcohol in hand. The cops started to follow him and he wouldn't stop, just kept going until he tried to turn and fell off the mower.

I guess you had to see it.

full story...

it was this guys 5th DWI

and he'd blown off two other dates for his probationary community service.

then he showed up drunk.

He deserves the year, and quite possibly it might save his life.

If NY is like Cali, he will probably get house arrest combined with a chemical dependency program. I hope you are right about it saving his life. Somepeople never learn though.

Nothing fills my heart with glee more than watching some dick bicycling in the rain to the liquor store.

More Proof we lived in a fucked world

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (August 22, 8:04 a.m. ADT) - The movie industry should compensate prostitutes, drug addicts and homeless people for forcing them from their neighborhoods during filming, activist groups say.

In a letter sent to 30 production companies working in Vancouver this year, the Housing Action Committee and the Vancouver Area Network of Drug Users argue that workers in other trades get compensated for lost wages if film production disrupts their work sites.

"Sex trade workers must be compensated for displacement they experience at your hands in the same manner you would compensate a business if you were to use their locale during operating hours," the letter said. "The same must hold true for homeless people you push from beneath a bridge or doorway and drug users you move from a park."

The Vancouver Area Network of Drug Users...? I didn't realize they were so organized

there's a guy here. He's in an electric wheel chair, cause he got into an accident while he was drunk. He puts his girlfriend on his lap and goes to the local bar and they get drunk and then drives the two of them all over the road. I don't know how many times he's been ticketed, but it's a lot.

^^55's Gunner.

I feel bad for the guy. He hasn't the self control to be able to show up to court sober.

Nice blurb on the "displaced workers". LOL. They should have negotiated. They should form a union. That's a good place for a union to exist.

Thank goodness I never got an electric one!

We've had quite a few people arrested for drinking and driving on lawnmowers. Makes for interesting police chases ;)
