Since getting a new Surround Sound System or a Home Theater I cant stop wanting to buy DVD movies and I wasnt a video movie buyer before that. Contrary to VHS, DVD keep their quality, have a fantastic sound and have some options too like alternated ending or cut scene.

Now I have rent some and buy some, they dont have all the same quality of sound (5.1 dolby or THX)and are not all equally good.

So which one should I have at home to really experience my Home Theater or simply enjoy the DVD authoring?

It all depends on the movie really.

I love watching action movies on mine. War movies can really shake the house.

You might want to check out http://www.hometheaterforum.com
for some ideas. It is a BB that specializes in HT tech stuff. There are some threads about movies there too.

I joined and learned a lot about stuff there.

PM me if you want.

Christophe I dont watch comedy, drama or porn.... Im an action gal, favorite one are war movies...

4laterer, the movie could be recent and be badly mixed, they have to invest a bit more of money and time to make it very good quality, using all your Home Theater specifications.

Thank you SilverVeil, I think that board was what I was needing...

No matter what kind of moveis you like there is one essential DVD that should be in everybody's collection

The Eagles: Hell Freezes Over

The sound is second to none, the video quality almost looks like you can reach out and touch them. It's just incredable. And best of all it's the Eagles.

hey Chris I've seen We Were Soldiers like you said it was really awesome, amazing sound too...

The Eagles: Hell Freezes Over is it not a music DVD? If I was to buy one I think I would like to have the The Wall movie from Pink Floyd.

It is a music dvd. I haven't seen the Pink Floyd one. I do know that three out of 5 stores use the Eagles dvd to set up their systems, set up the sound, check the colour and that stuff. Then they continue to use it to show off what they're systems can do because it's almost like the Eagles dvd complements the systems. I swear I'm not getting commission or anything, I just think it's a really cool dvd.

Also the movie "Gladiator" is a really cool movie on dvd as well. It looks really awsome and the sound effects come out really well in it.

Can you copy a DVD movie to make a backup, say a copy for the van for example? (on a DVD burner).

If you have a dvd rom and a dvd burner you should be able to make a copy no problem. Clone CD would probably be the easiest way to go about doing it.

Movies that blew the shit out of me (aurally, of course)...

armageddon, fast and the furious, gladiator, Star Wars I & II (not in that order)

Did you get enough rest? You didn't go to bed until dawn. Do you have a nice quiet day planned?

I saw your name on a DVD thread and had to stop in. Did you get everything straightened out with that? If not, I do have some information at work for you.

Hi Sis. That would be good. I put a DVD into the DVD drive and said "copy disk" and it worked for about a minute, then stopped and ejected the disk. I thought that I should probably order the HP drivers. They're reliable.

DVD's are definitally better! They take up less space and they will last longer. The best DVD is Basic Instinct! There are a lot of added scenes and more to the regular scenes.

On of the DVD I found fun to watch was Xmen, thay had remove a lot of scene and if you want to see them while watching the DVD a sign was indicating a deleted scene was seen on the screen and you had to click on your remote to make it play. Not a lot of DVDs are done that way, they add those bits in the special feature.

LovetoGiveRoses I dont think copyCD will work they put some antihacking feature just for that. You might want to go here, they explain how to do it anyway: http://www.vcdhelp.com/

Woah, you mean they put a non-sucking copy on the DVD? I'll have to check that out.

No collection should be with out...

Movies that no DVD collection should be with out are:
Spider-Man
Tombstone
Lord of the Rings: the Fellowship of the Ring
Blow

They just aren't the same on VHS... Bad A/V quality.:D
