Liar, why not just describe it as the little table on wheels? If none of the august personalities who have posted here ahve a good english equivilent, the odds seem good that even if you find the common ussage word. The little table on wheels will probably resonate better.

-Colly

It's not called a little table on wheels because it's not a table. It is more like a wide set of shelves except open in the front and the back and on wheels.

I think Liar and Colly are referring to the table that room service is brought on not the baggage cart.

I looked under hotel supply co. it is a room service cart. Known in some countries as a trolley, not anywhere near being a tram...I'm sure the french have some odious word to describe it like Le carte de Whoopie.

I thought I had a pretty good English vocabulary, but now and then I stunble onto something that just have me stumped. So: Help?

Those rolling tables that they have in hotels for room service...

What the heck are they called? My dictionaty wants to translate it to just 'wagon'. But to me, a wagon is something big and wooden that is pulled by an ass.

I'm sure they have tons of names depending on whom you ask; but both when I worked at the library in college and at various restaurants since then, we just called the ones we used service carts. <shrug> I'm sure it would depend on both the industry, part of the country/world, and individual tastes as to what other people called them.
