Drunk driving comment

In the first chapter of my latest story, a girlfriend staggers out the door to go home after knocking back several glasses of wine. A comment was "the girlfriend drove home drunk?"

Not sure how to even react to that. Her storming out was critical to the scene, but I wasn't thinking beyond that. Should I be flattered that the commenter cared about my character, or is it just some nit-picker giving me a hard time?

I would take it with a grain of salt. You said it was important she was drunk, then that's all that matters.

I think my only take on it would be "you read the story and that's all that stuck out?"

But considering what most of us get for abuse here that's pretty light.

I go for 'nit picker' too.

Many real Drunk Driving incidents happen after arguments with significant others when judgement is impaired. If 'the other' was the designated driver, then travelling with them could be impossible.

It is a realistic story line. Our characters do not always obey traffic laws, nor do a large minority of the driving public.

I love the morals of people on a PORN site. You can have sex with your sister, wife swap, engage in orgies, hell you can rape someone...

But do not drink and drive, what's wrong with you?

I read the story. I was too taken up with the emotional conflict to even notice the drunk-driving thing. But if I *had* noticed it, it would have just enhanced the action. As in, "wow, this chick is so mad she's even driving home drunk!" And the boyfriend was so overwhelmed by the situation he didn't even think to try to stop her.
