Brown said that Hatchett was his guest at the conference, and that Coody groped Hatchett as he was introducing her to sheriffs at the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Bar. Brown said three sheriffs came to the standup table, including Coody and the president of the Georgia Sheriff’s Association. Brown said he turned his head away from Coody and Hatchett as they were talking.

“As I turned to my left to focus back on the two of them, I saw his hand go down on her left breast,” Brown said. “I grabbed his arm threw it off of her chest and basically said, ‘What are you (adjective) think you’re doing?’ and that’s basically where it ended.”

Is the woman incapable of standing up for herself? This is a major problem in our society.

well let's see:

drunk groper sheriff (a man) grabs woman's breast
incensed man saw it happening and grabbed first man's hand/arm and called him out on it, before shocked woman had time to react

woman probably left thinking: 'what the holy fucking fuck?'

now i'm not saying man b's actions came from anywhere other than a good place, but--yeah--i'm sure the woman was perfectly capable of calling the groper out. Now would she have done it and made a scene? That's another question.

Even if she chooses not to make a scene, which I can halfway grasp its not like things can't be handled later. While nothing as bold as that I got fired cus some one (I suspect it was this other woman) decided to go report me.

it's all too often a case of a person is so surprised by an unexpected incident that s/he simply freezes--it's just so surreal their brain has trouble processing the situation-- and it's only later that they'll react, more privately. Other people, though, particularly those who've already experienced similar behaviour, will be far more likely to react immediately and with some gusto. ;)

Oh I know people freeze up, but if someone didn't ask for your help maybe sit back a second.
