In a day and age that is plagued by Steroid and other enhancement drug use shouldnt the WWE also get in on drug testing bandwagon too?

Dont you think they should have drug testing in this sport?

These athletes train to preform in the great world of sports entertainment. I think the people who truley work hard and lose to other athletes who have decided to use powerful enhancing drugs get screwed over.

I think it is time professional wrestling started commiting itself to test its athletes for drugs.

Its not so much a sport but a soap opera for trailer bound rednecks.

The WWF/WWE needs to test for female hormones.

It's not the WWF anymore; it's the WWE.

And they are all just payed actors; should the actors guild issue drug tests? I think if they did, we would have a shortage of good movies next summer.

What are you saying, you dont think the great Morton Downey Jr. could pass a drug test?

Not as many of them take drugs as you would believe, but either way, it really hurts the in ring performance anyways, plus (unless the name is Triple H) they are generally released from their contract if they are caught taking drugs (Eddie Guerrero was, until he cleaned up his act, Road Dogg was, Grandmasta Sexay was).

But still, it can't be called a sport, as yhey have the finish determined beforehand (unless there's a sudden change that needs to happen, then they get word to the referee, who passes it onto the wrestlers).

and Aquila, just for the record, if you don't like something, there is no reason to put it down because of that, I don't like Football (REAL football, as in soccer, you see... you use your feet, not your hands :p (that was sarcasm btw)), however I don't go into a thread specifically for that just to put it down.

Also, whoever said wrestlers are just actors... wrong, yes it involves acting... but how many actors are going to be able to take a basic suplex correctly? It requires a lot more than the skill of acting, backstage, fair enough that's just acting, but in the ring, you need to know how to make every move look painful, while making sure that if someone get's hurt slightly from a move you're performing, it's you.

It takes a lot of skill to perform most of the basics of wrestling (and trust me, I know, I'm going to be officially training at the next semanar (sp?) that my mate goes to, I've been doing that damned backyard stuff for 10 years, no, not using all manner of weapons, but actually practicing throwing punches, kicks, learning how to fall etc.).

I always get agitated when someone insults wrestling for no good reason other than they don't like it, I'd take a wild stab and say I'm possibly one of the biggest wrestling fans here (maybe THE biggest here). Of course, while I like wrestling, It'll be a while before I watch any WWE again. (not that I've seen any since December... no damned cable) They need to fire some writers.

They've got to be on the Juice. You ever notice how fast some of those guys bulk up?? I'm not saying the guys working their way up are on the 'roids, but the ones that are nearing the top sure as heck look as though they're beefing up faster.

Well said LD.. I agree with you on everything.

Although you could never be the biggest Jericho mark on Lit.. That spot is reserved for me. :D

Some are on drugs, it's clearly obvious HHH takes them (what? You mean some people actually BELIEVED that was his own work and sweat that got him that muscle? Shame on you!), I'd take a wild stab and say Dogg at least used to take them (he may have cleaned up his act since his firing from WWF).

Of course at the end of the day, you never know if they've been taking steroids or not unless you're the guy that sold them to the person. The best bet is just to say you "guess" some are on them, but can't be sure.

Of course I'd say it's common knowledge Angle isn't on them, considering how hard he trained for the Olympics, I'd say he would rather get himself built up on his own accord (same goes for Bob Holly, if we go by Foley's book, Bob's the hardest trainer out of them all, speaking of which.. where the hell is Bob's WWE title run... he deserves it more than half the guys who are up there.)

As for being a Y2J mark... meh, I admit I cheer like crazy when they pull a major surprise and bring in someone we wern't expecting or something, but other than that, I don't mark for people. I generally watch because I actually like the wrestling and I study the moves and how to perform them.

I think you have to be a bit of a mark overall to be a wrestling fan.. I mean yeah I know it's all scripted and Chris Jericho in real life doesn't hate a guy like Benoit, but once they get in the ring I can't help but cheer for Jericho as if it was it was real. Of course I could never stand a heel Austin.. He was so good at pissing people off that even if you saw him on the street and realized he was as nice a guy as you'd ever meet, you'd still be yelling for his fucking head to be ripped off the next night on Raw.

That to me is the mark of a great wrestler.. forget skill and in ting talent. If a man (or woman) can draw you emotionaly into a match and make you forget that it's scripted and there are backstage politics and either make you vocally cheer or boo him/her, then that is a sign of great talent.

I don't think you need to be a mark at all really, yeah sure, I admit I'd sometimes like to see stuff happen in the matches for the face guy to win, but all in all, as long as the action is smooth and continuous, it's what I like to watch.

Also, on the subject of Austin... he could be the biggest face in the world, I'd STILL be cheering for his opponent, and hoping Austin landed wrong... I hate any guy who beats his wife just "because", if ya don't know, Austin walked out on the WWE twice in the past year, and after the second time, Debra filed for divorce on the grounds he was beating her, she didn't say anything before as she didn't want to destroy his career, but as he did that himself, she went to the police.
