The current outrage du jour is neighborhood homeowner associations flying drones over homeowners fenced backyards to make sure that homeowners aren't sunbathing topless. Morals, dontcha know.

Working off memory here but there was a case a couple years ago out of the midwest where the cops were flying a drone over some farmers land and he blew it out of the sky. The arrested him and charged him with destruction of public property, obstructing investigation, and what ever else they could cook up. It went to court and the judge simply asked the cops if they had a warrant. The cops replied they didn't need no steenking warrant. The judge didn't agree and dismissed all charges against the farmer with prejudice.

No I wonder how they'd work that with a warrant. Drag a banner behind the drone, pre-recorded announcement?????

If they're spying on you, shoot the fuckers down. Let the law figure out if it was you. Use a shotgun, I suggest - stymies ballistic forensics, plus, a better chance of downing it. Maybe use '00' buckshot - it's basically a number of 9mm balls that will obliterate the motherfucker.

500 foot minimum altitude over non congested areas for aircraft. That should apply to drones too.

Drones cannot exceed 400ft AGL altitude without the operator having a drone pilots license and under no circumstances can drones exceed 400ft. AGL in restricted air spaces. There are a bunch of other rules that apply and in some cases flight plans must be filed.

It’s the cameras i object to… this whole thing where people are tracked as the norm ( transactions, geolocation, written conversations, cameras, facial recog) is the end of freedom and privacy, at least as anyone before 1990 knew it.

I’ve read different ranges but havent seen the systems described or pictured yet, just the fields covered in strands.

I know that some heavy naval torpedoes can carry over 30 miles of the stuff but it's a relatively benign environment and those torpedoes are huge.

It's a trade off. Weight in fiber comes at the expense of weight in explosives.

I have a few drones I play with. 1 I bought before the new rules kicked in and is quite illegal to fly now. It's a 'special occasion' drone now.

I watched a six-part Instagram/TikTok series two days ago about how Ukraine took out one of the most heavily fortified forward supply depots in Crimea last week. They used two "waves" of 3 drones (which had plywood wings!) that cost $200 each to make, it tooks out tens of millions of dollars in attack helicopters, a fuel bunker and a missile cache.

Probably the most cost-effective strike in the history of modern warfare. This depot had state-of-the-art multiband long range radar and the equivalent of American AEGIS anti-aircraft batteries to detect and shoot down anything and everything.

Ukraine planned everything within 15 second windows, skimming the surface at 75 feet above the ground and knocking out the power to the main radar array at 2:30 a.m. which is Russian shift change/debrief and fewer eyes on the radar.

Once the main radar power was out, backup power kicked in immediately but it was designed for occasional power outages in Russia not attacks and after 15 minutes it slowed the radar "sweep" to half speed to conserve power as long as possible.

A drone hit a large Siorsky troop/missile transport on the tarmac awaiting missle resupply right next to the arms dump. It shredded the $16 million dollar helicopter and schrapnel from the blast blew up the stored ammo, which in turn hit the fuel dump AND two other smaller radar units.

This was the "best case" scenario because the super fortified Russian border now had at 50Km "blind spot" for almost a week. Russia immediately dispatched a heavily armored train with replacement radars and fuel, a specialized drone with a shaped charge hit the train engine broadside and disabled it. Regular drones then began blowing up fuel cars which destroyed the train and the railroad tracks, further weakening the Russian front lines.

President Zelenskyy held a smiling news conference where he shared this victory with the world, Russia acknowledged an "attack on a depot" but gave no specifics. Ukraine said they planned this attack for over a year.

I cannot imagine Orange Hitler waiting a year for a solid victory.
