What do you like to listen to while you drive? I'm going on a road trip soon and I like to make mixed tapes to keep me sane. So I need ideas about what to put in!

Stuff that keeps you awake, anything!

(BTW, I like most any kind of music)

I like Blink 182 songs and other punk band songs when I'm driving.

hey Fenix...i'm listening to Blink right now. Any song from Enema of the State is good. I haven't heard too much from the new album...just The Rock Show...which is a good tune.

Cool! Their new album is good, but personally I like Enema of the State best. Still the new album, take of your pants and jacket, is definetly worth it!

Never said:
I like.. the sound of silence.

Really?

Um I use Pearl Jam's Rearviewmirror, Tool's Aenima, Placebo's without you I'm nothing, Live's Secret Samadhi, Faith no More's best of....

etc

I can't stand silence when I'm driving!
I love Blink 182, I already have them in my car! :D

The Talking Heads- "Road to Nowhere"
The Pixies- "Where is my mind?"

Night driving songs...and I mean on the deserted Interstate at night

Big Log by Robert Plant (where he sings something about his love and a freeway....it's a very mournful piece)

Highway Song by Blackfoot

Turn the Page Bob Seger

Good summer driving songs

Southbound by the Allman Brothers

Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes

If I just want to stay awake I have the Maximum Overdrive soundtrack by AC/DC...makes you just scared enough of those
semis to stay awake

anytime driving

Southbound Suarez Led Zeppelin

Highway to Hell, again, AC/DC

Me and Bobby McGhee Janis Joplin

Fire on the Mountain Marshall Tucker Band

Long and Winding Road Beatles

I Can't Drive 55 Sammy Hagar (its an 80s child thing)

The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down the Band or Richie Havens

I've been drivin' all night, my hands wet on the wheel,
and a voice in my head that drives me here...

Doobies...

Blackwater!

Of course, Biglog is GREAT too.

Oddly, I like "West End Girls" by the Petshop Boys. 80's, I know.

Dr. Demento is the absolute best for car trips. Especially Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavour on the Bedpost Overnight?. It'll keep you bopping for miles on end. Trust me.

I almost always listen to _Day of Future Past_ (Moody Blues) and _Tubular Bells_ (Mike Oldfiled) on long trips.

Other "traveling tapes are:

The Muppet Show (I & II)
Hooked On Classics (I, II & III)
Hooked on Swing
John Phillip Sousa's Greatest hits.
Also Sprak Zaratustra
New World Symphony (Dvorak)
Nutcraker Suite (Tchaikovsky
Fitfth and Ninth Symphonies by Beethoven
Dr Demento's Greates Novelty Hits.

If you like several kinds of music, then make sure you take some of everything so that you can change music to fit the driving conditions and your mood.

anything that moves... some of these include

Kryptonite. 3 Doors Down
Alabama. Sunday Drive
Alabama. Louisiana Saturday Night
Aliotta Haines and Jeremiah (i think), Lake Shore Drive
Janis Joplin. Me and Bobby McGee
Arlo Guthrie. City of New Orleans
Tom Cochrane. Life is a Highway
Chicago. Saturday in the Park
The Cars. My Best Friend's Girl
Rolling Stones. Paint it Black
