Have you ever had a dream so real, so complete, that you believe that it happened? That is was truth? Not a dream where you wake up and say "Wow, that was pretty real." But where you wake up and are angry at someone or sad about something because you actually think it happened?
It just happened to me. I woke up furious at my dearest friend because I thought that he had shattered my heart. I only know the dream was not real because I ranted at my housemate about what he had done to me until she sat me down and told me that I was crazy. That he had never done this to me. I'm still shaking from the impact.
Usually in dreams I watch others, or am removed somehow from the action. This one, I was myself and in the middle of what was happening. I remember physically feeling being touched, and feeling cold.
It's really bizarre. And I am less than enthusiastic about having that happen again.

So anyone else had this happen?

Coffe in the mornings.

When I was a kid, mom would bring me a cup of coffee in the mornings and put it by the bed. Several times I dreamed that she had bought me in a cup of coffee and I would wake thinking, 'Ah, coffee...' only to find it was 6 am and no one was up.

And no coffee.

Bugger.

I have had incidents in my life where the whole scene played like a re-run, perhaps it was dream retention?

Yes, I have dreamed like that. Frightening isn't it? Colors the whole day, for even when you fully awaken, you still feel those emotions.
Best thing is to write it all down, then close the book on it. Helps get it out, wthout the confrontation you had. Not fool proof though.

Dreams that seem so real you swear the person you are draming of is right there. That you can touch them, smell them, even after waking their scent seems to linger.

Yes I have had dreams like that, actually the last time it happened I was so very disappointed in the morning to rollover onto a wet spot and find myself still alone. In my dream she had been wonderful. :(

I have dreams like that...some of them are just so real emotionally not just visually. They re very powerful and there is a message in theem for you that is urgent..

I had a dream like that once. It was very real and frightening. Never want to experience one like it again. I had a dream that my older son got hit by a train and was dead. usually with dreams like that one I wake up before someting really bad happens but this time I didn't. I just knew something was going to happen to him. Still gives me cold chills when I think about it.Another thing that is really eerie feeling is when you have this strange feeling for a day or so and can't quiite figure it out and then something not good happens. I really hate those feelings cause i have this great fear of what it is that's going to happen.

Thanks everyone for sharing! I am still a bit shaken from this dream. I saw my friend last night and when we first met up, I had a wave of anger sweep over me, and it took about a minute for me to subdue my feelings. I had to keep saying, that was a dream.

The whole psychology of dreaming like this fascinates me. I mean, what makes your mind create a scene so real that all your senses react as if it were? Why does this happen?

i did think to write it down, and perhaps there is some sort of context I can pull from it.

I have such dreams often actually. While with my ex I would be dreaming of him say cheating on me and I would wake up and be so hurt and angry. I hate dreams like that.

My least favorite dream being the one where it is a nightmare and you wake up...but the nightmare is still happening. Then you REALLY wake up. I hate that. I shouldnt be allowed to dream I have woken up.

i despise dreams like that.. nightmares even more worse..

I had weird dreams once for about a week.. I used to work the nightshift, but due to the work, instead of goign home at 7am like I was supposed to, we didnt leave until 9-9:30. I'd walk home, and get home aroun 10-10:30, and go right to bed. Fall asleep, and dream about workign a fullnight shift. no breaks or anythign weird, felt jsut like I was at work.. I'd wake up from teh constant work-dream about 9:00pm, and get up and walk straight to work..

did this every night and day for a week.. I wanted to die.. in my mind, I worked a 120 hour shift.. gods that sucked..

I've had dreams like this as well. They are just spooky to me.

I have begun to listen to what my dreams tell me. In a past realtionship i kept dreaming about someone who was faceless and having a fear that they was going to hurt me or my son.

I finally figured out who the faceless person was. Someone that i loved dearly.... and if i had stay with him, there was no doubt that he would had hurt me and my son.

Not so long ago i dreamed that i was being betray by someone i was very close to and i trusted them very much.

I found out that the then current boyfriend had lied to me repeatly.

I dont always listen to what my dreams tell me... most are silly and dont make sense, but the scary ones i do.

Now if i could just figure out what it means to be making cardboard boxes in my mothers living room????

After having a dream like that and "dreaming" about work so much, when you woke up didn't you feel completely worn out????

Ive had dreams like that too and i felt like i never did sleep.

no one really knows the purpose of dreaming, however some scientists have theorized that it has to do with consolidating memory. this theory has been used to explain things like your vivid dream, GEG, though no one is really sure.

I have those dreams where I get up, take a shower, drive to work... and then my alarm clock goes off. Always pisses me off!

I've had a dream where my mother died. I had to go check on her just to make sure it was a dream. I had tears streaming down my face.

This morning feels like a dream. The only noise in the apt. is the fan whirring, and my eyes don't want to focus. I think I need more sleep. :0)
