Stripper Mom

Inspired from a thread in "Story Ideas" where a mom strips for her son's party ..

Just a quick sketch .. with plenty of flaws .. might better it sometime but right now I am way too lazy!

Wavering lines indicate something - most often bad line art.

I have a bamboo ..

and I wish I could afford Cintiq .. (*Sigh..)

I am finally giving up PS CS5 for sketching because I am sick of light and dark shades of brush strokes when they overlap and turning pressure sensitivity leaves no scope for fun. Trying my hands on Sketchbook Pro and the only drawback is that it does not provide the variety of brushes PS gives.

Yes, I love to play with tools.

SketchbookPros pencil "brush" seems to me to be much more like real pencil (With a tablet).

I'd say if you want pencilish/sketchy quality...a pencil is still best.
and invest in a scanner. I have a $100 canon that is very good. I also have a couple HP scanners. I'd really like a large (or at least LARGER bed scanner) and a cintiq. I use a wacom currently. And I am still on PS CS4. I do not like the concept of the CS-cloud..monthly!!! gRrRRRrrrrr have enough bills as is.

One of my vices is art supplies, classmates in college would often be a bit jealous...though many of them came from money, most squandered their cash n going to the bar etc. I bought pads, paper, markers, presstype...we didn't HAVE computers.

Ah, I would have liked to see it too. That said, nothing like pencil and paper. I consider light tablets a whole other animal -- would love to have one, but only for coloring scanned pencil drawings. I have a piece of garbage scanner (the inkjet component is 100% kaput, even if you install new ink.. argh, that was fun) Ya know, it's not like I can't afford to upgrade but it gets the job done so why worry? :D

I got thinking about this, so I looked up 11x17 flatbed scanners. One large format was not even 11x17, it was 11.7" x 16.5"***, another wasn't MAC compatible, the Epson Expression 11000XL- Graphic Arts Scanner seems like the best candidate. But at $2,500 I'll put it off (higher priorities elsewhere), as I already tend to work small (more incentive now) and can often piece scans together in a pinch.

****hmm...
reading some reviews... on this one. (Mustek)
Less than $200..and the BED is 12x17...effective maximum scan area is 11.68 x 16.52 inches... I can work with that.

another potential quality issue...MIGHT be.CIS scanners (Contact image sensor) vs CCD (charge coupled device). I'm gonna check into this...but the price might make this just fine for my use.

Unfinished Business

While I was drawing I felt not drawing the clothes on this one makes it look a lot better ..

though other details are needed in absence of the attire, I will leave the rest to your imagination (Laziness!).

I certainly love the pun playing off her figure and those on the board behind her.

Thanks for sharing the progression. I really enjoy seeing how people work.

Good news is that I got a few pages of commissioned work for a web-comic .. though not a very decent commission .. but they paid in advance! Anyway .. money is money .. ain't it?

Bad news is .. its gonna eat a whole week and this lady will have to wait till then .. XD
