SCCA races at Heartland Park were unusually good this past weekend.
In G Production a 1959 Austin-Healy 3000 traded the lead and lap records each lap with a late 90's VW Golf. The Healy (past national champ in the class several times) won. (The engineers that created that car would be aghast at how fast Kent gets it to go.)
The E Production race ended up between two first-generation RX-7s. They were 18 inches apart at the finish.
Showroom Stock C was interesting with the introduction of the Mazda 3. One of the competitors in the class drives a Neon and says the Mazda has a little more speed, but a lot better handling. I said it might be a good street car. He said it would be a great street car and (relatively) cheap, too.
There were a lot of close racing in other classes and the people and parties were a lot of fun as well.
