[Dragonteeth]

Usually when I read stories I collect several at a time, and read them in batches. In recent weeks I have taken to making notes and marking them as I read so that I can come back and give feedback. It occured to me that it might be interesting to collect all the feedback into one place. There are other review type threads, but this is likely to be something a little different.

I hope people will drop in occasionally to make recomendations and discuss stories that they have read or written.

This is going to be a bit experimental, and it may get a little "bloggish". The idea here is to provide some information about the Stories that I read and offer some reviews. I'll probably deviate a little from time to time to discuss other posts on other parts of the forum, but I count that as "Authored Work" too, so I don't think it's inappropriate for this section. The moderators may have different views however, we shall see.

"City girl gets unexpected riding lessons."

She loves horses and when a friend suggests she visits a farm that may give riding lessons. She decides to investigate further, and after meeting the owner they go for a ride together.

It's a lovely tale, in a slightly romantic style without being too slushy, I’d like to read more. This is a well structured story in it’s self but I think there are at least two more tales to be told of these characters. There are several possibilities open and I look forward to Part Two.

Hello SelenaKittyn, Thanks for dropping in.

It's a fair question and I did look into how that thread worked but they seem to want people who will be able to review all the new stories on a particular day. I just can't work that way.

Here you will find my thoughts about a random sellection of stories at irregular intervals.

I also wanted to set up a new thread of my own where I could look at other threads and such...

As I mention in my introduction it may get a bit bloggish and I wouldn't want to do that to someone elses thread.

I'm glad you did find me, I enjoyed the story and it seems only fair to pass on my thoughts, though I'm not sure how many people will actually take notice of it.

I hope it brings more readers to your door and maybe that it helps you develop your writing.

Even if it doesn't bring more readers it is encouragement for me to keep going, to keep trying harder. You making note of it here is quite an accomplishment for me, I think. Lets me know for sure that I’m doing something right .

Money is tight for Andrea at the begining of this story and to make some money she takes a job as a "Ladies Maid", but there is more to the "Lady" in question than first appears.

The author says that he hoped to get this story published. I feel that it probably wouldn't work in that format but it does work quite well here.

An Excellent “Short” story, well structured and readable, I look forward to more, but the structure is wrong for “Chapter 1” of a Novel. I suggest that a publisher would want to see good evidence of a longer story arc, a hot sex scene in “Chapter 1” may be seen as too much too soon, and if I were looking at this as a novel length piece I’d expect to see a couple more characters and more character development. I would not expect to be at this point in the story untill about ”Chapter 6”. I would find it hard to imagine you could keep this intensity up for more than 3 or 4 chapters like this. It’s still a nice piece of work.

Getting a story published is notoriously difficult, and doubly so in this genre, to achieve that aim you need more than just a good story, you need a lot of luck and perseverance too. There are places where this tale could be polished a little and perhaps a review edit might help.

If you still want to get this in print, you might like to consider submitting it under a more obviously FEMALE pseudonym.

Thanks for dropping in. I don't know that I'm going out of my way to do anything really.

I offer the best "Constructive" criticism I can, if it helps that's great. There are probably going to be people who disagree with me. That's good too.

I can't say it's deliberate...

I'm just telling people about the stories that I find interesting. and if I see ways to improve then I offer my advice. I'm not an expert though, my advice should probably be taken with a certain amount of caution.

If that means I'm looking at NEW authors then that's great, but it's purely coincidental.
