Was thinking of maybe starting a DA thread that takes place in the war after Dragon Age II. Basically, a group of mages from Kirkwall are fleeing the templars, and they seek refuge in Ferelden, which has become a neutral party in the war. King Alistair squashed the civil conflicts within his realm fairly quickly, one major reason being his best friend and fellow Grey Warden, Brenn Amell, was a mage and had been a strong and influential voice in the kingdom for nearly ten years. First Enchanter Wynne was also a very public figure in the realm. Ultimately, Alistair ordered the templars to follow his laws or leave Ferelden. Most of them did leave, but some remained loyal to their king.
Now Ferelden is a safe haven for refugees from the rest of Thedas, mostly mages. Our characters could be mages who have fled from Kirkwall or somewhere else, and the rogues and warriors who help them. The story could start as war breaks out in Kirkwall, and our group of mages, rogues, and warriors flee and we detail their journey south to Ferelden. Once they arrive, they discover the Champion of Kirkwall, Garrett Hawke, has come to Denerim and is working closely with his cousin, Brenn Amell. With Hawke is his sister Bethany and his lover Merrill, both mages. Hawke himself is a warrior, but he opposes the templars.
So, this could develop into a deep, engaging story that spans several years, maybe over ten if we keep it going. The main focus would be romance, but there would also be a strong presence of violence and the pains of war. For the setup, here is what I think would work:
I will play a warrior, a former city guard in Kirkwall. Just a few months before the war started, he had taken a liking to a young, gorgeous female mage, elf or human. They flirted a little bit but it hadn't really gone anywhere yet. When the battles start, he witnessed a group of templars trying to kill this girl and her family. He saves them and a few other mages, and a few fellow warriors and rogues for whatever reason decide to join their group. They steal a ship from the docks and flee, and are able to lose their pursuers in a storm.
They end up landing along an uninhabited coast in southern Ferelden, pull the ship up onto the bank and into a deep forest. For several months, they use the ship as a makeshift house and live in the forest, hidden from the templars. The warriors and rogues make monthly trips through the woods to a village on the other side, where they get supplies. It is during on of these trips that they overhear that King Alistair has stopped the war in Ferelden and they decide to travel to Denerim.
So, anyone interested?
