I know you're only supposed to vote for something once.
What happens if you vote for the same story twice?
I've been reading stories here for ages, but only recently started voting (didn't realise what the voting thing was all about). So sometimes I come across a story that's familiar to me, but I don't recall if I've already voted for it or not. At the moment I'm not voting on things I've read before, in case I screw something up for the authors.
But I'd like to vote for stories I loved that I read way back when.

If you're logged in, it won't let you vote twice -- or it's not supposed to let you vote twice, but it might have "forgotten" you voted on the story.

If you do vote twice accidently, the duplicate vote will eventually be identified and removed on one of the periodic sweeps for duplicate votes.

Go ahead and vote; If it accepts your vote assume you hadn't voted on that story before and let the periodic sweeps determine whether it's a duplicate or not.
