and take a great big bite outta a sandwich! ;)

Ok I have found one of the strangest things today. August is National Sandwich Month. So come on tell us what is your favorite sandwich!

Gimme a good Reuben, with nice lean corned beef, sauerkraut that's just the right level of tangy, 1000 island dressing and the swiss cheese just starting to melt but not runny or drippy yet. Served with a side of thick cut steak fries and Heinz 57 to dip in and a cold Killian's Irish Red if you really really want me in heaven.

I mourn the loss of my beloved Arby-Q from Arby's. Best sandwich fast food ever offered.

Oh, the suffering. I'm right with Salvor, but I can't eat them any more. The cow's cheese and the fat will put me in physical pain before I'm done savoring the delicious thing. And I so love a good Reuben.

Fortunately, I can still just about manage my other favorite - a good Italian roll stuffed with grilled Italian sausage, fried red and green peppers and onions, and a grating of Parmesan cheese (from sheep's milk, of course). I have to eat it with pretzels or baked Lays chips now, but they aren't bad, and the sandwich itself is heaven.

I have to pick ONE??? How cruel!!!

Grilled cheese with ham tucked in. (which I make awesome of)
Peanut butter and jelly is a classic.
Arby's beef and cheddar with extra red ranch sauce *purr (though I don't get the pepper bacon, I find it nasty)
I love me a good tuna salad sandwhich.
A good basic white meat turkey sandwhich is really good.
Porkchop sandwhiches!
Peanutbutter & syrup sandwhiches are soooooo good.

Wall Street Deli (by my work) has these WONDERFUL clubs that are a little slice of heaven on bread.

There's a coffee shop also by my work that makes an awesome "ranch" sandwhich I get from time to time.

Currently eating a Original Chicken sandwhich from Chik-fil-A.

my dad says I was probably the Earl of Sandwhich in a past life because I'm obsessed with sandwhiches and I'll turn just about anything into a sandwhich.

Arby's Market Ranch Chicken and Bacon is damn good. Think I'll go get one for lunch. :D

Honestly, I'd have to say that my all time fave sandwich, hands down, is a classic Tuna. I was raised on it and I'll always love it. My best "tuna" story was my husband who had, of course, also had his share of such sandwiches when growing up. Back during our early dating days I sent "hubby" out to buy tuna. He came back with cheapo stuff and I told him, "Only albacore!" He didn't understand why there should be any difference. Heh. So back he went, brought back the albacore and I made up the tuna.

Hubby took one bite of *MY* tuna sandwich, his eyes went wide and he gazed at me in amazement: "This is the best tuna sandwich I've ever had!" What amazed him was that I'd put nothing in the tuna other than mayo. ;) From that day, I knew he was mine...all mine! (bwahahahahaha!)

My perfect tuna sandwich is on rye or sourdough with red onions. Notch it up to a toasty tuna melt (with jack cheese) and I'm in heaven....

Yum!

p.s. Hey, maybe this should be the theme AV for this week: Sandwiches!

I dont have just one favorite. I like a veggie panini from panera bread and this angus sub from quiznos and the meatball sub from subway.

My favorite sandwiches all contain two simple things...

A buttload of meat and a buttload of cheese (preferably melted)

I can't have sandwiches right now... In October I can though. I'm not sure what I'll sample first... I like the idea of a simple bologna and cheese one on fluffy white bread... *sighs* I also want a burger, either Burger King's whopper, or McDonald's Big Mac. . . *sighs* But I also know one, maybe two bites of it and I'm done. So when I do get to bite into that sandwich for the first time after a year... I'm not sure what one it will be... probably the closest one to me, a simple bologna and cheese. :D

At the moment... White bread, lightly toasted. Emmentaal cheese, parma ham, sunblushed tomatoes, rocket, freshly ground salt and pepper, and a small amount of honey and mustard dressing.

Cheddar topped with Flamin' Hot flavour Monster Munch also rocks.

peanut butter and crispy bacon, on toast

Edited to add: I just found Peter Pan on the shelves of the supermarket again for the first time following the recall for salmonella. Yay!

Mmm . . . sandwiches . . .

There are two at the top of my list:

Monte Cristo, the old fashioned way. Three slices of french toast, ham, turkey and swiss cheese, pan fry the whole thing, serve it with raspberry preserves. Great way to have a heart attack, but it's so freakin' good :p

I've heard this called a James Joyce: corned beef and turkey, with either swiss or munster cheese, served hot on a toasted onion bun with honey mustard dressing. Yet another artery-clogger.

And after you eat it, you end up with a different kind of buttload . . . :p
