you don't want to say it back?

Want to know how sad my life is? The person who said it to me was over aim....:(

She kept saying it...and wouldn't leave...so I just threw out luv or something...I hope I don't get murdered...:(

Shaq you should never say something you don't want to. If this friend of yours didn't pick up on the hint that you don't feel the same way then something is wrong with her.

I also would never want anyone to tell me that they love me when they don't.

I don't know if we are friends.....it was over aim....we never even met....

The best policy is honesty, or empty air space.

Often, in the beginning of a correspondance, I am able to share my beliefs concerning on line love etc.

Also, when it is said to me, I may say "Thank you, but..." or just "Thank you."

I never say it back unless I mean it.

i wouldn't like someone saying it to me and not meaning it

if it happens again (which it probably will since you said it back), maybe just try saying "thank you - i care about you as well" or "thank you - you are a good friend" - that way it should be clear that you are NOT in love with her ~

Yeehh.....I HOPE she doesn't think she loves me or I love her....she told me she was going thru a lot....BEST CASE SCENARIO:She just wanted someone to say that to her to make her feel better...

WORST CASE SCENARIO:......................boo.............

i have this special relationship with someone here. i love him and say it often. and he knows as well as i do that i mean it. however, he has never said it to me. i respect that. i dont give it to get it. hopefully some day some where, he will be able to say it. but not once have i pressured him to return the sentiment. i enjoy thoroughly what he and i share.

if someone says it to me..and i don't feel the same way..i say

"i enjoy our time together"

lame..i know...but...it's the best i can come up with

I dodged it toinight....I'm hoping it worked....being single sucks...if I were involved I wouldnt turn to such outlets to meet women....phooey...

I love ya Shaq I really do love ya

:p

I usually go into the whole "Thankyou, but I just don't feel that way right now..." speel (sp?).

But if it's just a friend through an IM, I'd seriously be wondering what's going on with them. Love isn't a word you should just throw around. Admire, lust, care, sure. Not love.

That does suck. I once had a conversation with someone...a long deep conversation with someone, about the fact that there is a difference between "I love you" and "love ya."

True. Love ya' usually means (to me) Aw, ya' big dope! Or "love you like a friend".

It's so hard to decipher what people are saying through little words on a screen though. I personally think the answer is in more emoticons! :D

Hey Shaq...your signature, is that just a quote you like, or are you a journalist?

"I love you" is just that....that's what she said...."love ya" is what I said in an attempt to satiate her...hoping she would see the word but still interpret it as a playful phrase of affection but not deep feeling....

Not a journalist....it's a quote from "Makeshift Patriot" by Sage Francis....

Then how come you sent me a thank you card Rubies?

:p

Lol...thought I had found a fellow word jockey. :)

If I wasn't majoring to be a nurse....journalism would have been my forte....

Ruby is right on this one. I hate not being able to say I love you, because I just like saying it, but since I don't want people to feel uncomfortable, I usually ask and explain that it doesn't signify any obligation on their part.
