14 days and counting for all you Douglas Adams fans. :nana:

I finally saw the long trailer today and it looks pretty good but I don't know how faithful to the books it is. I really hope this version doesn't suck like the last one did.

Don't forget your towel.

Keep froody. It sounds like the director really knows where his towel is. I'm sure it's gonna be top-notch.

And no-one can argue with Alan Rickman voicing Marvin the Paranoid Android.

OK, then I can come back to you for a refund if it's scheduled for demolition.

Can't wait! Too bad you're not allowed to take Pangalactic Gargleblasters into the theater with you. :(

CD, I didn't think the BBCTV version was that bad--low budget, yes, but well-cast, imo, and fun, which is the whole idea.

You're right. I pick on it, but it's wasn't that bad. But it certianly was very low budget, and looked it. I think after reading the books it was just a bit of a let down.

No arguing with that, but seeing a movie after reading the book is always disappointing.

Btw, have I mentioned I like your avatar?

Very true. Offhand, I can't think of any movies that have lived up to the books that preceeded them. Anyone else?

No you haven't, but thank you. I think it suits me.

My buddy, the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Thrall wants me to go with him to the opening, and that's okay, nobody ever picks on me when we're together at a movie, but, the thing is, I don't get to see the movie on account of how I've got to keep my head covered with a towel and, well, you understand, don't you?

So, any suggestions?

Rumple Foreskin

I am probably gonna show my ignorance here (nothing new) but is this thread about a film of a book and is ALAN RICKMNAN in any way involved - LOL (Alan Rickman is in my opinion the hottest of the hot males!)

Is the answer 42?

Only if the question is "What do you get when you multiply six times nine?" ;)

I read the books after I saw the TV show so I wasn't disappointed. Loved the Vogons. They create truly awful poetry.

And there is one movie that was much better than the book. Jaws.

The book was only suitable for lining the bottom of a hamster cage with.

And Stephen Fry as the book. I am in happy fangirl land.

So you've never seen Princess Bride? It's infinitely better than the nasty, snarky Goldman book it was based on.

Actually I loved that movie. But I've never read the book. Apparently I haven't missed much.

I'd put High Fidelity and the LotR trilogy as being the only films which I've seen that surpassed their books.

Gone With the Wind - much better movie than the book.

My big question is will the triple breastsed whore of Eroticon VI be in the movie? Hey LilRed, I see that I'm not the only one to have heard the BBC Radio version of "The Hitchhikers Guide ...". Which I happen to have on cassette, somewhere.

I think PanGalactic Gargleblasters appeared in the books as well. I have the radio shows on tape somewhere as well. They're not as satisfying though, cause they always leave with Arthur and Trillian leaving Zarniwoop stranded with the Ruler of the Universe.
