Domming myself smoke free!

Well, today is Thursday and it's only 4:33. I have three and a half hours to go and it's starting to suck already. It will be well worth it though.

I think that it's the mental part of the habit that I'm fighting right now. The urge to be smoking, not for the need of the drug.

Yeha, after three days the nicotine is out of the system. But the mental end.....that's the killer.

Cangrats on what you've done so far, and good luck. Just remember, it may take more than once to actually quit. Just pick yourself up and keep trying.

This will not take me more than one try to quit. I have a set goal in mind. I also have some plans that will require me to quit smoking.

Oh yeah, 7:45 today. I think I can be done in a few more days at most.

You're doing SO great Betticus. :)

Thanks, that means a lot. I'm feeling better too. Breathing better already and all of the good things.

I made 8:45 today. So tomorrow at least nine. It will be tougher since I'm not working this weekend. I do have a lot of housework to do though. For some reason my clothes get washed and dried but the putting them away part somehow eludes me.

Rock on, Betticus!

As with most lifestyle changes, you have to have a goal and be willing to devote an inordinate amount of energy to that goal, at least in the beginning.

I found, when I quit, that I was concentrating on quitting almost constantly for the first few days and then, it seemed more natural. It takes practice to be a non smoker.

Oh, and dark chocolate helps. One little piece dispells the craving.

Don't cave in! I'll beat your bottom red if you do.

Dropping by to cheer you on once again! :) Great to see you're still well ... congrats!! :)

Myst, you can spank me anytime girl but I get to return the favor.

And thanks for the support Zaudika, I screwed up this weekend though so now I'm just going to try smoke free. Think of it as punishment. My Dom is an ass like that.

I'll post tomorrow after work if I can manage to make it through the day today without one.

Okay, so I blew it for the weekend but I made up for that by not having smoked since about 11 in the evening Sunday. So I've gone through the entirety of Monday without a smoke. It got a little rough in the middle but I made it. Now we'll just have to see what happens for today.

25 years later and I still can feel an urge to smoke. Once in a while I'll puff on one, but I never inhale.

Have you thought about the patch or gum? They didn't have that when I quit. You'll have powerful urges for 90 days or so. Don't give in. After that, it starts getting easier.

The urge to go and get smokes really sucks but I think I have it beaten down now.

Okay, Tuesday is gone and still not a single smoke.

My support seems to have died too.

Hi Bett.. just checking in on you... your thread seems to have dropped off into the distance. How're ya doing?

Since I'm allergic, I'm not quite sure how hard it is for you to quit, but when I had to cut back on caffeine and try to eliminate coffee completely, it was HORRIBLE. I still can't kick coffee completely, but I AM down to only one cup in the morning. :D

Oh, I'm going there right now. I'm trying to cut back on my caffeine/coffee intake, and I swear that my head will explode in the next few days. I have this migrating headache that's been with me for almost twenty-four hours now.

Zaudika: Betty's doing FANTASTIC! I bugged him about it this morning, and he's still smoke free, because I had suspected the same.

Yeah. I've had a couple of slip ups but it's nothing really. I'm done with that shit.

Now I just need to take the money I spent on smoking and sock it away for ten years and then see how much it turns out to be.

It'll end up being a lot... believe me. I've only been quit for a year come 12/24/04, but I notice the difference. The price I see for a pack of smokes is ridiculous now days, thank gawds I had the strength to quit when I did.
Congrats on continuing in your quest to be completely smoke free. :)

Thanks for posting the info too Myst :)

Sure! I found irony in it because I've started smoking! I usually never smoke (maybe socially), but I went to the cig store and bought some clove smokes (one of my vices).... though for some reason I only smoke when I'm talking on the phone. So people, stop calling me! :p Seriously... I'm going to die of lung cancer if many more people end up with my phone number. That reminds me... cym doesn't have my new phone number! Anyone seen her lately?

I cracked. I smoked today. I didn't buy any but I did smoke.

Drank too.

Other bad shit happened.

Well... we all have moments like that. The goal is to increase the time between smokes.

And to not beat yourself up too much for slipping. It is a change in lifestyle and a little slip up once in a while won't derail life. This only happens when I drink so maybe I'll have to work on that, except that I only drink about once a week. I drink less or not at all and can be fine with it.
