Yep, the Dollywood Parade in Pigeon Forge occurred today. Miles and miles and miles of traffic for this major event in E. TN.

sheesh.

The news couldn't comment on something wonderful like the Dogwood Arts Parade or anything like that.. noooooooo, it's Dollywood! Dollywood! Dollywood!

I live 30 mins. outside Pigeon Forge and have been to Dollywood a total of ONE time. That was 4 years ago.

Sevierville is very pretty, when there aren't crowds around. Hey Vol, I like this AV. Could fit in well at Auburn too.

Can't say I've been to Dollywood.

Come visit DC and see the Cherry Blossoms or sit by the Potomic and skip rocks across the surface. Visit Robert E. Lee's home and watch the changing of the guard at the National Cemetary, have lunch in Georgetown then walk through Harvard's Dumbarton Oaks, walk the mall and watch the kids playing frisbee and sports games, go to the capital and see the wildlife, go to the national zoo and see the tame animals. Go to the Hotel Washington Balcony and have an ice cream cup and watch the jets fly down the Potomic.

For all of us ignorants out here (like me).....exactly what is the Dollywood Parade?

Pigeon Forge is a tourist trap. But, they do have this really cool kick-ass racetrack there with little gocarts that are decorated just like the nascar racecars, and they let you get away with murder... heh.

Well, it is long line of cars and floats and Dolly.. yes, the Queen of Country herself, rides in the front and everyone sits or stands alongside the road cheering. It's retarded.

But I thought Dollywood was supposed to be the cultural mecca of the south.

Am I wrong????:D

Ohhh, Dolly Parton.

If I were you I'd...

Get out of town quick!

Sevierville is different than Pigeon Forge. Sevierville is less touristy.. more countryside and mountains and streams.

Townsend is really the most beautiful place to go besides Cades Cove. They have rustic cabins you can rent and seclude yourself with your honey and just enjoy the beauty of the Smokies.

You can give it a little more credit than that...

Pigeon Forge is a beautiful little enclave tucked into the mountains with a picturesque rocky stream running through it. Then sometime a bunch of years ago, someone decided to develop it and ran roads through the center, built a bunch of stores and started putting billboards up all over the place. They even developed this schtick of selling little mountain trolls (which might become a big it on Lit for a different reason). Dolly Parton grew up near there on a very poor mountian farm. She decided a few years ago (how many) to "give back" to the community and try some further development and built an amusement park. That's the story of Dollyland.

Floats? Dolly memorabilia? people cheering as I drive by?

Chuckling..................almost to the point of tears......

They don't have Grandma's Ice Cream in NB... though they don't have Fashion Island in SB either...SB was home for many years, Laguna Beach for a while too, though being straight, I didn't fit in there real well.

That's about $5-6M in real estate combined. I'd hate to see your property tax bills.
