big salami said:Hi yourself SS, before I comment on the dogs in your life, I'd like to point out that I am a pussy lover too in every sense of the word and I love that Av!!
Now, thanks for the compliment about the thread, once I saw there was a thread for cats I went lookin' for dogs but, couldn't find any so, here we are!!
Blaze is a pure bred German Shepherd, long haired and officially "Champagne" colour. Registered with the UK kennel club, DoB 18th July 2000.
I love the pics of your babies, Chelsea looks very cheeky and cuddlesome and Maddie looks to be well named!! Blaze is well named too as he dashes about the place leaving a trail of scorched earth behind him!!
I also have a cat (see Cat thread!) and although she is just tiny, she rules the roost round here! She tends to stand a lot more from Hector than from Blaze though and Hector is happy to leave her to her own devices. Blaze is the opposite however and is often to be seen walking close behind her, nose to ass until she's had enough and then, she turns and "KERPOWEE*%"@+*!%!! she whacks him, right on the nose!! He blinks, pulls back and then goes in for more!! Daft dog!!
They do get on OK though but, when Blaze 1st came to me, he had no discipline and had been taught to chase cats and squirrels!! He don't do that any more and is for the most part a well behaved boy! He does like to jump up and kiss my visitors though!!
It is obvious your babies are NOT spoiled too, no more than mine are, just ruined!! LMAO
Thanks again for coming and hope to see you here again, I'm sure there will be lots and lots of great pics posted when people find us.

big salami said:This is Hector, he is my rock, he kept me sane when my wife passed away and will always be my best buddy.
He was dumped in a ditch, tied to a bush near the local animal rescue centre at age 4 months approx. We found him there when he was about 6 months and brought him home!
He is still a bit scared of large lorries/buses etc. but a changed dog other than that.
Hector is a "talker" growls like a mad thing when playing but, has no malice in him at all. We believe that was why he was dumped but, obviously the people that had him had no doggie experience as his tail never stops wagging, a sure sign that he's having fun! If the idiots who dumped him had got to know him they would never have parted with him!! He is now 7 1/2 years old and I will NEVER part with him for anything!!
He is dobermann crossed with some other things but, don't know what. He is top dog round here although my cat is the real boss! lol
He hates having his pic taken so, you won't see him as much as you'll see "show off" Blaze!!![]()
SweetSurrendered1 said:LOL Thanks, glad you like my AV. I've had a couple of positive comments about it. I was worried it might be a little too much when I decided to use that one.
Blaze is just a beautiful dog. He and Hector both sound like characters. People who don't have animals just don't know how much joy they are missing in their lives. I've never lived without a dog and just can't imagine ever trying it.
Chelsea thinks she is an 81 lb lap dog LOL. She's very cuddly and playful. Everyone always tells me that if I ever decide to get rid of her (yeah right!), they will be happy to take her. I tell them to keep dreaming! Maddie is well named. She's always getting into something and taking care of her "skirt" is a full time job LOL. She loves going into the front yard (which is fenced) and chase cars into the corner where she proceeds to run in circle after circle after circle until she almost falls down. It is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. They pretty much leave the cats alone unless one of them ventures into the yard... then they are fair game for chasing LOL.
We're not huge fans of little dogs either but Scotties are just big dogs with short legs. They have pretty deep barks and are very sturdy. They are the most laid back things I have ever seen! Mallory was our second. I grew up with Misty and they were both that way. When Mallory and Chelsea would play tug of war, Mallory would eventually get tired so she would just lay down and roll onto her back while still holding her end. Chelsea would just keep pulling her all around the house that way. I miss her lots.
I love all the pics of other doggies you've posted too. I've seen most of them before, but they are so cute, you can never get enough of them! And I will look for the cat thread and check out yours. My mother-in-law (who lives with us) has another cat that is just huge. I'll post one of him and tell you more about him there. He's a character too!
Succulent-one said:When I was a kid I had a dog named Hector....he was a bassett hound. His big paws were always in my mothers flower bed, but she loved him anyway. LOL
About 2 weeks ago I got a 7 week old border collie, which I had for 4 days before I gave her to my niece and nephew. I just was over for dinner tonight, and boy can they grow fast! I wish I were home more so I could have a dog....but alas....off to work I go every day ~sigh~
big salami said:Thank you SS1, I jusdt love it when you get a bit of background on peoples dogs and people themselves too! it sorta adds to the closeness that most dog owners feel with each other and that closeness has no boundaries like borders and such.
I hope that people of all nationalities, shapes, sizes and all religions and political persuasions will come here and just talk about their beloved pets, their best friends!
ALL are welcome here, no hidden agendas, no rancour at any past disagreements, this is the "Doggone it" thread and that's what it's all about!!
SS1, I just loved the remark about Scotties being big dogs with short legs, gives me a very vivid picture of what they're all about!
I have always had dogs around me since I was about 7 years old back in nineteen hundred and frozen to death and I don't think I could do without one now!!
SweetSurrendered1 said:Well obviously I love the opportunity to brag about all the animals in my life (although I still haven't touched on all of them, if you can believe that! LOL)
I've really enjoyed learning about yours and the others' too. I just realized that I was remiss in remarking about Hector's important part in your life. It's amazing how much they can do for you. That's how I felt about Chelsea when I first move to CA and the only other person I knew was my husband who was already working and had friends and family here that I didn't know well at the time. I know it's not the same, but I'm not sure I could have made here without her. I'm glad you've got him and I hope he stays healthy for a long time!
big salami said:Course you love to brag about them hon, don't we all? Our own pets are just the BEST aren't they? that's what we love about them so much! I see people sometimes with dogs and cats that look and sometimes act in a way that I would hate and I used to wonder what made these people keep such animals but, I now realise that it's love that keeps them together looks are just skin deep and eah of us has his/her own idea of what is beautiful and what is not! Behaviour is an aquired thing anyway so, people make their pets into the models that they want them to be mostly!
The end of it is that we all seem to love our pets, those that just want a status symbol or a protector don't often feel that way for too long and those that do, frequently pass their pets along in a relatively short time! I have never parted with a dog or cat that I took into my house as a pet for any reason and I'm not gonna start now at such an advanced stage of my life(no comment needed here mark thanks!! LOL) Did used to sell Dane puppies on though but, not without really strict vetting procedures!!
As far as Hector's concerned SS1, he's the healthiest dog you could imagine and I do my best to keep him that way, I want him to live until the day before I die!!
That is not said out of selfishness btw, I would prefer that he did not pine for me in the way I know I will pine for him and I don't want that to last too long either!
SweetSurrendered1 said:In an effort to not go on and on (as I have a tendency to do!), may I just say: DITTO. To every single thing you just said.
babycake190 said:Hi big salami and everyone I love all dogs and cats.I have two dogs one is a Australian Shepherd and my baby girl a Chihuahuas hope to take pic so I can post them. But for now I'll post other dogs.http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/AGF/3170.jpg
SweetSurrendered1 said:I just want to say again that I love all the dogs here! They are all cuties in their own ways. I wish I had the time to comment on everyone's dogs, but of course BS is doing a great job of that! I like the published pics too! Mark, quit teasing us and post yours already LOL.
