The jury found these idiots guilty for the conduct of their dog............Maybe there is justice:)

I am glad this trial is over... I mean there were allegations of the woman screwing the dogs..Very Ewwwww. but then again i live in missouri and a guy married his horse in this state. some people need beaten with socks filled with 3 day old limburger cheese.:D

woohoo, it looked like they might get off, thier defense was throwing everything but the kitchen sink to get them out of the responsiblility.

I am gald the judge and jury saw through it.

I'm afraid the couple has a case against their own lawyer for gross incompetence. I smell a mistrial.

I suspect Dixon is right. Not only was the defense lawyer a bit "out there" but the wife was convicted of second-degree murder, which has never occured in a California dog mauling case. This makes the verdict ripe to be overturned on appeal.

I would like nothing more than to be wrong, though.

I hope you're wrong too

There is nothing to appeal in my view. They were held accountable for their dogs' vicious behavior and their gross negliance. Now I hope they get the sentence they deserve!

Whether or not they are guilty actually has nothing to do with an appeal unfortunately. Legal technicalities are what will win or loose an appeal, and frankly, it's shaping up to be a fairly big appeal case. I really hope that they don't get an appeal, and I really do think they deserve to be locked away, but, hopes and wishes aren't reality.

i'm really clueless, but I thought the murder verdict was a bit much. guess they are lucky i wasn't on the jury. whatever. the mom and lover both made a comment that they were looking forward to the civil trial, made me wonder if maybe they're happy with what happened so that they both may become wealthy. hmmm.

I think the guilty verdict is appropriate in this case. People should be held accountable for their pets & these people knew how dangerous their animals were.

hifi, you are either totally clueless or totally heartless. I seriously doubt that the family of the victim is happy with any of this. No amount of money will bring their loved one back. In many cases, a civil suit is the only for the family to pay funeral, burial, travel, time off work & other expenses. It is amazing how few people have the kind of life insurance needed to cover funeral costs. When my son was murdered, there was no trial because the shooter committed suicide. My family spent a lot of money on travel, hotels, time off work to be with me when I needed their support & none of us is or ever will be wealthy. Very few companies give employees bereavement leave or anything like that, I am fortunate in that the company I work for gave me all the time I needed, kept my job for me & my benefits going while I was out on LOA. Bills still have to be paid, therapists have to be paid, etc. In our case, I was able to get enough money from the victim's fund to reimburse my family for hotel & travel expenses. I hope that you never have to go through something like this.

I agree with that statement. You know there is going to be an appeal and there is a good chance that these people will get out and go on their merry way. Hitting them financially may be the only way to hurt them.
