Doesn't she just look like a nut?

You're not so far behind. <smile> Check today's paper. ;)

Can't you see it in her face?

She looks like she may have overdosed on Botox. Think it's possible for that stuff to leak into your brain? :D

If he'd kept her handcuffed to the bed until time to go to the church for the wedding, none of this crap would have happened.

Correction: That is so right, but so unfunny. This woman is allowed to vote.
And, I understand no charges are being filed? No harm, no foul?

That's what they were saying on the ijjit box earlier today. If the sheriff and state attorney in her county don't file charges, the voters in that county should get up a recall petition.

When i learned of the details on the news i thought it was horrible, & felt especially sorry for the groom to be, and her family as well. First she says she was abducted, and her family was so concerned upon hearing this, of course. i felt their embarassment when i heard the final account detailing that she fled due to cold feet, and wondered how they delt with THAT news. The news said that after hearing this new version, they pretty much barricaded themselves inside of their homes and refused further interviews. Somehow, for some reason i couldn't help but feel amusement at that point.

i hope they didn't plan a huge expensive wedding. Most times not much is refundable.

But, geeez...... i thought to myself, "She must be emotionally unstable, or something.. probably a nutcase.". The photo confirms it pretty much, for me.

Think of the police man hours spent looking for her and her captors. Shouldn't somebody pay for that? They surely had better things to be doing.

And, I agree that a simple phone call would have worked better than what she did. Cold feet is one thing. But that was quite an elaborate story she thought up, just so she didn't have to get marreid.

Actually, when you look at it, it works out to her benefit. She wants to break it off, and usually the groom and family will try to talk her into going through with the wedding...come to her senses.

But, in this situation, they all see how crazy she is, and surely nobody will try to talk her into going through with it. They pretty much want to distance themselves from her, I'd bet. So, her plan works, in a round about way.

Ok, so it's not Dar Heatherington but it is a very similar case, I believe.

my thoughts exactly. In fact, i had heard of the first accounts regarding her fabricated abduction and did not pay the story nearly as much attention until after the truth came out. i saw the photos and video feeds and there were so many people involved in the search including the police. All i could think was, "Damn. Did she realize just how much trouble she must be in at this point?!!?". It will be interesting to see whether or not she is charged with anything. It's comparable to dialing a 911 hoax.

Hmm, i don't know about that, DVS. Local news on television here during the evening news broadcast quote the fiancee as professing to 'love her even more'. Duh. --Proof to that old saying that there is someone out there for everyone-- He's a nutcase too, perhaps?

Brr? Duluth is hot at this time of the year. Besides, she hid in New Mexico, not Duluth.

Yeah, she looks like a nut in that particular photo but a lot of people have naturally wide-eyed deer-in-the-headlights expressions when photographed. I don't see her as that crazy. She just panicked, something many people are prone to do under heavy stress.

I also can't help but think there's more to this story than meets the eye. If someone feels they have to bolt rather than face the person they're running from, it could be because facing them is not only a frightening but also unsafe prospect. The article did mention a family member praising the fiancee as being "amazingly strong." There are people to whom it is very hard to say no to. Either they don't accept no for an answer, or you pay, very heavily, for saying it. (shrug) Maybe he was that type. If so, running away _and_ engendering a huge amount of publicity over the running was a pretty smart thing to do if you felt fear for your life or health, as the person you feared wouldn't dare do anything vengeful with such a spotlight turned on him.

The most surprising thing about this story is that it is a story at all. Thousands of people run away from home, children and adults, each week. Why did this particular case make the news while others don't? Is the family or fiancee rich or considered important in some way?

Duluth? Hot? I lived in MN in St. Paul for 10 years...it doesn't get warm until May -- well I guess about now... :) I've never known it to be warm :) Oh I had misread then about Duluth. Oh well. She still looks like a nut.

Weather in Duluth:

Today
May 1 Snow Shower / Wind
38°/24°

That looks brr to me...I'm in Florida lol.
