*ZAP!*

Ugh, I hate it! I have to use my elbow to shut it anymore :(

life is rough...

get one of those little trail things that dangles off the back of your car and touches the road, it discharges all the.. um... charge.

Not every freakin time, no.

I swear I'm not stalking you.

Rains here every damn day in Ky lately, so no luck here to get zapped.

Is this a common thing? I haven't ever had a car shock me.
I don't know...perhaps it's me and not the car...that would explain a lot

No, I don't have that problem very often with my car. But when I was in the states, it was horrible. Practically every damn thing I touched shocked me. It got to the point I would rather fumble in the dark than turn on the light. And getting in and out of her truck was torture. I had to ground myself before turning on the computer! LOL

Happens all the time on new cars too.

Not nearly annoying enough to get one of those ugly grounding straps though heh

I heard it has something to do with a new compound they use in tires that builds up static electricity.

Makes sense, never experienced it before on one of my old cars until I put new tires on it.

Hmmm. May it be related to humidity? The drier the climate the higher the possibility of static?

I guess all the damp euroair keeps you static free :)

~rubs feet on carpet~

hey, come here for a second...

Can't say I've ever had a car shock me. Door handles, filing cabinets even my poor dog, never a car though.

LOL! You stay away from me. I'm used to not getting shocked.
And yes, it is the damp euroair, and I like it. Cali was frickin' dry.

Be careful, I saw something ON TV the other nihgt about shocking it while you are filling your gas tank. People die from that
like i said yesterday, its unlawful to pump your own gas in Jersey...

...so I guess I'll have to watch Joe attendant become the human flameball

That's true. For example, it's a greater problem in the winter when the air is cold, & therefor dry.

I wonder about the fabric on the seats. Sliding my but in or out could be the same as shuffling my socks across the carpet.

Does nobody listen to my high quality advice anymore?

I used to see em hanging off the back of old 70s cars... a strip of some kinda material about an inch and a half wide and long enough to touch the road.

Asked my mum what they were and she said they were they to discharge the static buildup.

Only when I am wearing my black jacket - do I get shocked !
It must be the jacket ... :)
