Does True Love Exist?

I've had an argument about love with one particular litster for going on... almost a year now? lol...
I told this person love is a choice. I don't mean the feelings- we have no control over those, or very little, anyway. But the action of loving someone, of giving my heart completely over to someone, of letting that person in so deep that they can send me over the moon or utterly crush me with a word or a look... that's a choice, and a process. I do make decisions about who I let into my heart, because no one can control that but me. As I let someone in more and more, the feelings get bigger and deeper. It's not all head, and it's not all heart- I think it needs to be both.
I love more than one man in my life. I'm not "in love", however. For me, these feelings of love are about who these men are to me, right now, and the relationships I have with them. They know about the others and there is trust, respect, and all those good things that you need to have in sharing love. I will not fall in love with these men. That's the choice I've made for me, and for them. There are more things involved in all of our lives and that's okay. I have told them I love them, and they understand how I mean it to them. It's not a declaration of ownership, of indebtedness, or of need. My feelings go beyond admiration or friendship- they just mean more to me than that. I don't think I'm wrong in telling them I love them.
True love is a tricky term. I think it means something different to everyone. I consider my love true, and yet, I'm not "in love". I am reserving that for the one who will be mine forever, should he choose to show up sometime....

You will always have to say you're sorry, no matter who you're in love with. But the first quote can ring true. As long as the love is reciprocated, because otherwise you're just a stalker.

Love exists, but there are many forms.
Some are enduring and last through years with hearts that still lust for each other, some endure just because they have no where else to go.
Some loves are fleeting, based on first attactions and lust but they seldom go deeper than the surface.
Some loves are chosen because they are destined to fail, and the people involved need to have that type of relationship.
Maybe instead of wondering whether true love exists (which it does) we should just accept that fleeting or enduring love makes us all feel good, and the pain from lost loves makes us treasure the loving moments even more.

It is not love that requires maintenance but it does require nuturing. What you have to decide is whether love is worth the trouble that it brings and can you accept it.
