Okay, the Loving Wives category explanation line says, "Tales of adventurous married women & their mates."

I just wrote a very short story about a woman dancing at a club and she is approached by a man. They commence to have sex on the packed dance floor. You find out at the end that he is her husband and this is part of a game they play, alternating choosing the game, to spice up their sex life.

Does it belong in Loving Wives?

It certainly fits the description: "Adventurous married women". However, the category hardly ever includes the mates of those women, so don't worry about that.

The alternative would be Erotic Coupling, but it will be lost in a crowd there. That is always the last place I choose to put a story. Most trolls who flame stories in the category complain about slut wives and wimp husbands, and that is not the case her, so go ahead and put it in LW. :D

Although the "Loving Wives" category tends to be dominated by stories about wives cheating, I kinda think that the real focus is on that "wife" element, the fact that the woman is married. Most of the other categories, after all, can feature spouses--Romance, BDSM, Fetish, etc. So having it *merely* be a husband/wife spicing up the sex with some exhibitionism doesn't, IMHO, qualify it for "Loving Wives,; because it lacks any real focus on the marriage and her being a "Wife." The focus there is on the exhibitionism and would be better suited the "Exhibitionist" category.

NOW, if the wife out on the dance floor is flashing her wedding ring, thinking about her husband and what he'd feel about all these men dancing with her, ogling her, whispering suggestions to her; IF the wife is imagining the sex she could be having--and might just have--with these other men and how jealous that would make her husband and IF we think she's engaging in a very public, adulterous affair with this man on the dance floor, one that she whispers to him will get back to her husband and ruin her reputation...IF, in other words, the story pretends to be about a wife cheating in public on her husband, and that's part of the game...THEN it's a "Loving Wife" story.

Exhibitionist.
Definitely 'Exhibitionist'.

'Erotic Couplings', always makes me think of the 'miscellaneous' folder in a filing drawer. The place where you put something that doesn't seem to fit anything else. And is immediately forgotten.

I think you might be right about the EV category, Mat. Personally, I only use EC if I can't think of any other place to put a story. LW would work also, and it would get more views than EV, and probably wouldn't get flamed the way the "slut wife/wimp husband" type does.

By the way, Laurel will put it wherever she wants, so the question might be moot anyhow.

... ack! And where I submit about half my stories.

After all, they're certainly never romance!
And every once in a while they actually feature consensual sex with no-one watching. So what to do?

Laurel doesn't often change category on a story, and the ones where I've heard that happening are usually shifted a little more than that, like from "Non-Con" to "Erotic Horror." What I'm saying is that I don't think she'd be inclined to shift such a short, quaint story, she'd be more inclined to shift something a little longer and more intense.

Then again, one never knows with the powers that be....

She has changed quite a few of mine, sometimes for the better. However, there have been other times when I wish she had put them where I wanted. I wrote a threesome with a TS in the middle. I wanted to put it in TS & TV, but it was placed in Fetish. I wrote a story of consual and enjoyable anal sex between a man and his stepdaughter and wanted it in Anal. Ir was placed in Incest, which fit also, but I would have preferred it in Anal.

Did yu read the story in question? I don't know how short and quaint it is. It might end up with all the dancers getting so turned on by the couple fucking on the dance floor that it turns into a Roman-style orgy. :nana:

Thanks for your comments everyone. Your thoughts actually made me re-think it a bit. I think I may develop it more towards the exhibionist category before it gets posted. Thanks! :rose:

Actually, the dance floor is so packed that only one person sees what is really going on. That was one reason I was aiming it toward Loving Wives.

I think Loving Wives is fine for it, especially as it sounds like the revelation that the man is her husband will be a revelation at the end.

I actually think it's perfect for Loving Wives, as it will make the trolls think it's a cheating story, but those who bother to read it will discover that it isn't.

I agree with Mat, it's more of an exhibitionist story, although it is fine for LW. There are some excellent stories (Patricia51 & Harddaysknight have many) that involve a husband and wife playing games that don't get revealed until the end. The only thing you want to consider is how you are telling the story. If you're being clever and hiding the truth by playing up the game aspect, it should do well. If you intentionally mislead the readers, it can go bad. The trick is that the reader can go over it a second time and understand completely the things he missed (or conclusions he/she incorrectly jumped to). If the characters are thinking things they would not possibly be thinking, just to fool the reader, the story could do poorly (think The Sixth Sense vs the resolution to 'Who shot JR?' in Dallas).

Hmm... I use Erotic Couplings category often. I use it for men and women that aren't married. Their story isn't really romantic, but more sexually driven. They aren't lesbians, or gays, non-consent/reluctance..... etc. They are two consenting adults enjoying sex. Thus... Erotic Couplings.

I have probably used E/C more than any other category, but it is still my last choice. The majority of my stories are first person stories involving George Boxlicker and one woman. If I can put them into Anal, BDSM, I/R, Celeb or somewhere else, I do, otherwise they have to go to E/C.
