Does this scare the shit out of anyone else?

What is it? I only got to a sign in page for the NY times.

I would have to agree with Bush on this one. We fight wars to force an outcome. It isn't pretty and it isn't pleasant, but it is effective.
As for the American soldiers, we join the service to hopefully serve our Nation, we accept the risks and do our best.

Oh, yay, Kosovo.

I spent six months in Kosovo and I can tell you from first hand knowledge, that the country already had a high amount of birth defects. They way that they live is EXTREMLY unsanitary, and they lack any medical facilities that are worth mentioning. I am not saying that the impact these weapons might have on these people is okay, I am just saying, that as unhealthy as that counrty already is, I doubt too many people will notice.

We being Humans ....I think that we are all assholes and some of us warmongers should be shot! I mean I would not be surprised by havieng a war with in our own usa....But as nukes are concerned I think I would rather die from a nuke than a viral warfare..Sad but true ...They are doing studies still to see how efective it is....And how long it would take a human to die....War is always going to be part of are lives...for those who are in that country for radition well ...It could be worse sad to say....

THE WIFE

HOLY SHIT!!

A sign in sheet to NY Times......how hideous. It scared the majebers out of me.

Nobody Special's Wife.. "some of us warmongers should be shot!"

Ooookay.
Something's wrong with that statement.

On another note, I take it Guy doesn't read entire threads before posting to them? ;)

Poor Reporting

The issue is "DU Ammunition".....possibly.

No one is dropping "nuclear" ordanance.

The issue is this. Many projectiles fired from aircraft and the guns of light armor are made from "depleted uranium". Hugely dense and able to penetrate the armor on targets. A DU round sitting beside you is nigh on to harmless. However a DU round that has impacted a target and "exploded" produces a small amount of radioactive vapor that is semi-persistant. This vapor externaly is not harmful, but if inhaled can be deadly. This is the problem that several European ministries of defence are now investigating. The British MOD circulated a memo prior to the Gulf war stating that personel approching sites where DU rounds had impacted would be advised to don there respirator units if not there entire NBC kit.

I agree with Ian to a point. The countries of eastern Europe are not exactly fastidious about how they handle toxic/nuclear waste and you can literaly stumble across it almost anywhere.

One Canadian Battle Group deployed to Bosnia in the early 90's was filling there sandbags with a "red earth" to construct bunkers and shelters. It was almost a year later when they discovered that the "earth" was both toxic and radioactive and was dumped there by an industrial concern.
