I'm writing a story, and I'm getting so involved in it and so turned on by the scene/incident I'm describing that I have to stop and go rub one out before I can continue.

This might happen three, four times during the course of one story (though not usually all on the same day lol).

Anybody else ever experience this? Or am I just too enamored of my own writing and imagining?

Okay, thanks.
It doesn't bother me that it happens, but I was just wondering if it was just me or a more common phenomenon.

I can usually wait until the end--mainly because my muse is too focused on the writing. What I do is move to an arousal high and then I want to sustain that as long as possible while I'm writing--and I want the story to benefit from that.

I guess you could call it "checking for quality control."

When I'm writing, I'm often aroused, and that helps the flow, but I can't recall getting aroused to the point where I have to pop. That usually comes later, after the writing session is over.

I look forward to feeling that arousal when I write. If it doesn't do anything for me, it's highly likely that no one else will as well. I don't have a need to rub one out before, during or after, but I do use that arousal to use as the emotional input needed to show the story and not tell it.

You'll find two-handed typing will get you through it faster and not waste the fuel to write on the keyboard. It will put more into your story as well. :D

Yeah. I take it as a sign that I'm writing something I would enjoy reading. Try not to let it get in the way of the writing though, if I can avoid it!

I also tend to think idly about my stories when not writing, and sometimes get off to the ideas behind them. Again, I wouldn't be writing it if I didn't find it very erotic.

I generally get aroused, but oddly I'm at a higher state during the seduction before the actual sex.

I wait until I'm finished and let that arousal fuel the muse, then I'll go hunt down the wife.

One thing I have noticed is the higher the state of arousal during my writing the more typos I have to fix afterwards.

I definitely

don't have this problem. I can't think of one of my stories where I got aroused while writing it. Going back and reading it weeks or months later, yes, but not during the writing.
It may be related to the fact that I didn't learn to type in school and have to concentrate so hard on finding the right keys. I can see the scene in my head and if I'm not writing, it will get me aroused; but during the writing no.

I have it happen but I have learned to accept that many times it is the muse saying to dial it back some and give them some good edging material for a few paragraphs or you are going to have them blowing their load way sooner than you are ready for them to!

I used to but I read some really good advice which was not to leave a sex scene half written, especially not to go masturbate. When you come back to writing your mind will be different and it'll possibly show in the tone of the scene.

I used to have a policy of not allowing myself to come until my characters had. Then I discovered that the frustration and tension that come with abstaining are great motivators and muses so I began abstaining until entire chapters or stories were finished. I employ the same attitude to my other creative outlets too.

I'm currently taking this idea even further having accepted a challenge on the Fetish & Sexuality board: edging once a day in the first week of February, twice per day in the second week, three times per day in the third week and four times per day in the fourth. It's going ok and I'm writing more and with greater focus than usual.

This happens to me even when I am editing my story for the third of fourth time. If I am writing erotica. this is my peter meter to tell whether my story will have the desired effect. I am almost 70, so i figure if it will get me up?

Good point foxwood and you are correct; I wait until I sign off for the night beforel I allow myself to cum, but touching a bit to keep up the tension helps propel the story. BTW, I always write naked!

Since most of the stories here on Lit come out of a persons fantasies and imagination, why wouldn't it be arousing for the writer? If it ain't arousing you, then put it in non erotic. ;)

When I brought this up I got flamed. I do get horny writing sex scenes. Especially when writing Rayne Falls and Zerophilia. I think I probably brought it up in GB, though. I get caght up in my characters when writing anyway. I start to see myself as that person. Feeling what they feel, me creating them is besides the point.

I do usually get turned on writing stories. At least the good ones. I don't have a set plan for edging or anything, but I've found that if I don't masturbate until I'm done, the story is usually better. As long as I'm turned on, but not satisfied then I can stay focused and get more done. Once I've rubbed one out, I'm pretty much done with writing for the time being.

I've also found that if I don't have sex for several days, the ideas flow much better than if I'm sated.

Didn't Radar O'Reilly use the word "Slaked" when he got his cherry popped in the TV series? Yeah, when I'm Slaked I just don't do good work, or just don't even try.
