It is eery, but you do know how website histories are logged, and your patterns are recorded; pop ups and other ads appear accordingly. The lennon case may not quite happen, but if you surf online prescription drug sites, you may start getting online popups and emails for prescription drugs.

Similarly, your visa purchases can be inspected, so if you buy auto related stuff, you start getting ads for that sort of thing.
