I've become fascinated with Harrison Butker and the reactions his commencement speech has elicited. I find him to be the total package and the man I wish I were and wish I had in my life. Everyone rushes to attack him as anti this or that perhaps because he's what we aren't and our anger is a bit more reflective of our own self-loathing. Let's be honest, being straight would generally be easier than being gay. Our country used to welcome all points of view - but Harrison's POV isn't tolerated by many especially among the feminist and GLBTQ communities. Just curious if any other gay men respect what he had to say even if we aren't wired to be the man he is.

Nope
It’s a free country, he can say whatever but we also do not need to listen to it

It is interesting though how many bible thumper’s ultimately get caught messing around with other men.

Neither for me though he has the right to voice his opinion especially when he is invited to speak.

This article has his speech:

I'm no the least bit impressed as he is delusional like many with his mindset. It has nothing to do with his assumed heterosexuality, but just his whole mindset. Case in point, he referrers to the "COVID fiasco". Fiasco is defined as: "a thing that is a complete failure, especially in a ludicrous or humiliating way." It was a GLOBAL PANDEMIC, but he doesn't say that as he most probably has that conspiracy mindset. I'm from this region of the country, and it is shocking the ignorance of those with that mindset. i talked to someone who was clueless about the vaccinations. Only one vaccination used fetal stem-cells in the process of developing their vaccine: Johnson and Johnson. the rest may have used them in testing, but not in development. No this guy swore they all did. There was no reason to argue with someone who is spoon-fed info from probably some conservative rag as oppose to reading sources. I'm not an atheist, yet I would never eat spoon-fed indoctrination.

If this guy has any brains, one day he will have a crisis of faith for not thinking these things out before laying down matter-of-fact judgements about people and groups that he has no understanding about. He's 28 years old. While he probably makes lots of money, that doesn't mean he has a lot of life's experiences. I was 36 when he was born.

There are great heterosexual people. My maternal grandparents come to mind. My grandpa died beside my grandma in the ambulance on the way to the hospital -- he died of terminal brain cancer that spread to places like his lungs, and he was paralyzed on one side from a stroke. Grandma thought he would die that day as he could no longer hold his hand up to say his rosary. That was 1967; she didn't die until 2003, but there was no man that could ever take his place. That is what love is; it is not about the plumbing of the two people.

The problem with absolute freedom of speech is that people are not held accountable most of the time for lying, throwing out conspiracy theories, or simply talking about things one doesn't know anything about. Where has it gotten us -- those of us in America? We have a nut bag, convicted now with more court cases hopefully heard someday, yet enough stupid people here that couldn't care less because they worship him. Sadly, he may end up in power again.

I agree 💯pct. He is entitled to his opinion although I'm not convinced it was the correct forum for him to do so. Even the nuns who founded the institution stated his views did not represent what the school was about.
Just because he is entitled to speak his mind, doesn't mean he's immune from the consequences.

The right to free speech ends when it becomes a physical danger to others...think yelling "fire" in a crowded theater. One could say Butker's diatribe against vaccines borders on this.

Absolute bottom of the barrel in terms of male attractiveness. Sorry.

Also, if he hates women this much--and let's not quibble on that point--he probably hates us even more, so I'm inclined to say he can fuck off.
