Does anyone read Gay Male stories?

I have noticed, in my moderation of the Awards Nomination Forum, that the Gay Male stories thread, as well as the Mature and Exhibitionist/Voyeur threads have very few nominations in them (Gay Male = 0, Mature = 1, & Ex./voy. = 1) This is the cause of some concern. Is this just because no one is reading these stories, or because there are few stories in these sections worthy of nomination...

I can only speak for myself. I haven't nominated anything in those categories because I don't normally read them.

There are a few stories in the Mature and E/V category that I've read, but none that made enough of an impression to bring them to mind in the context of "award winning potential"

I did notice that (the last time I checked) there are no "top stories" in the gay category, so there may not be many readers in that category.

Mature stories

While I don't read the gay male stories, I am an avid reader of the Mature stories. Those are always the first ones I look for when I check out what's new. I've also written several mature-themed stories (and I'd like to think that they are of high enough quality to be nominated, but perhaps I'm impartial).

I think many of the stories that could be considered under the Mature heading end up in the Incest category. And understandably so, since they involve mothers and sons, aunts and nephews (two of my other stories are in this category). The story I've nominated for story of the year, "Built For One Thing", interests me not because of the mother-son angle but because it's about a young man seducing and being seduced by a much older woman.

Other mature stories could possibly be grouped with the Erotic Couplings stories. But I'd like to think that the May-December romances would be an interesting enough topic to deserve it's own heading.

I myself usually read poetry, and romance more than anything. I really haven't nominated though, mainly because I -Just- got back from an extended Vacation from Lit, and I didn't think myself qualified to nominate this year. What I -did- nominate though was what really stood out to me when it was first posted.

And honestly, I rarely read the gay male stories, although lately I've been trying to read a little of everything just to get different views and broaden my horizens.

I've read the gay male stories, but none of them particularly leaped out at me. Most of them were pretty much, well, mediocre. Not many of them leaped out at me as particularly great. Well, maybe one, but I can't remember which one. I'll go look, if only to give a nomination...

I agree, which is why we split it out into its own category very recently. Since then, I haven't had the time necessary to go through and weed out the Mature stories from the Erotic Couplings category and put htem where they belong. If any of you read an EC story that would be a better fit in Mature (or Interracial, or Mind Control, or any other cat), drop me an email.

They're ok I guess, not my thing, but I'm still looking for something that stands out.
