...some of those prepaid phone card things? In particular, and this is crucial, someplace that is NOT Wal-Mart? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Sams club... i have a 500min card that was rather cheap, if i remember a year ago.

7 11 has some that are pretty good, I guess. Target also carries them. I get mine at the local grocery store. I hope this helps. :)

Thank you yes. I just don't want to go to Wal-Mart and Sam's Club is an extension of Wal-Mart.

I feel Wal-Mart is destructive to the American economy and do not wish to support them or any of their affiliates with my business. That's all.

well, that's an admirable reason... and sams club (price club) is affiliated with them, so my bad.

Phone cards

I understand why...but where can you beat an ATT phone card with 600 min for about $22?? That's 3.4 cents a min.....use them all the time so I don't have to pay a long distance carrier fee.... almost everyone else jerks your chain with hidden minute fees and such...have tried many cards and some charge 3-5 min just for dialing the number...ATT only charges one... Just my 3.4 cents worth...lol

Sillyman kicks ass!

I boycott Wal-Mart as well and its sad to see them spread across the rural Northeast like they have everywhere else.

Warning about the 7-11 cards. It has been my expereince that they use a cheap structure and the vox clarity is poor. That might be unique to my use of them but its been consistently poor even though they are probably the cheapest.

You haven't gotten to your economics classes in college yet, have you?

But if you want to pay more for the same product, then you are free to shop where ever you want. The beauty of our economy, you know. You do have a choice.

The myth of the 7 dollar hair dryer!

You're wrong Chey about this one. Pure capitlaism is a wonderful thing when the features are universal but everytime you buy some cheap product made ina country without labor laws and adequate worker's rights you perpetuate a system that not only adds to a poor human condition in much of the owrld but you also hurt the American economy.

I'll pay a little more. Not a problem.

People talk alot about principles but few maintain them when it becomes personal or financially affected. Fight the power. What is more punk/DIY than taking control of where your money goes? Its a more powerful tool than voting.

There are quite a number of places you can get virtual cards from online. The rates are low, you are given all of the information via emails. I do not believe they have any affiliation with the Waltons.

No offense Cheyenne, but Wal mart is not a fair dealer in its business practices and has destroyed business's in small towns. That's just the case. You can't have a free market if one company essentially controls that market. This is what happens when one company is that successful. Economists will often say that in the long run dominance like this does not last, but that long run can often be very long. Think about things like Ma Bell. Stay frosty you American angel. Oh and I hope to be modest's prol someday. FFF

Which of Wal-Mart's bussiness practices are unfair?

How do you think that Wal-Mart got be so sucessful?

How do you define dominance? We last numbers that I saw showed that WM had a market share of around 8%, 5% in groceries. Which is huge, but hardly compares to Ma Bell's 85% before the breakup.

From what I've seen, you can buy phone cards from almost any place that has a cash register, and a few places that only have phone card vending machines.
