Does anyone else write better when they are feeling blah?

I am in a mood today. Not exactly sure what is causing it but I am just in a funk. More annoyed than usual at my life in general, my spouse in specific and just generally pissed about a few other things.

It seems like every time I get this way the stories just flow onto the page like syrup onto pancakes. Its a strange thing that. Almost makes being in a bitchy mood worth it (except yah...I hate feeling this way!)

LOL Usually when I'm in a Mood, it's because I can't find time to write. I hope you feel better soon, but good for you for writing.

Nope. I'm the opposite. When I'm depressed, angry, or just plain blah, I can't write anything besides terrible poetry.

But yay for maple syrup-flavored silver linings. Just make sure it's the real stuff, preferably canadian grade d/ us grade b. ;)

Hey Bella. Neat question.

Whenever I was in a funk it really wrecked havoc on my fun writing. Everything came out like crap, and I've learned to keep my hands off the keyboard when I don't have to write and I'm down.

Now if I had a deadline on a piece I was already hired for, then I could muscle through it and in the end it took away my funk for the most part. Writing becomes cathartic for me. I'm kind of grateful when I do have a writing gig and I'm not feeling up to par as the process always seems to wash away the blahs.

Absolutely not. I get in a mood and I can't even bring myself to open the word processor, let alone write anything.

huh...maybe I am different because I tend to use my writing to process whatever has me in a funk in the first place. Even if the piece doesn't appear to have anything to do with my mood if I read through it later I will see bits and pieces of whatever I was trying to process peeking out.

Writing is like cheap therapy to me :D

I'm at my best, when everything else is at it's worst. I'm the type that thrives on chaos. Also a lot of my story has dark overtones, so when I'm in a funk I have done some of my best work on it.

Besides writing is my outlet, its the one thing I do in life just for me, so once I start I find the funk begins to lift.

I do this is as well. Many of the poems I have are from dark times and reflect that in the wording. Most are for me only. Few people will ever read that stuff.

Not sure about the blahs, but I've had some of my best ideas when I was somewhat more than half drunk.

And some of my worst ones, too.:devil:
