Does anyone actually preheat the oven?

I get these frozen lunches and they always want me to preheat the oven, like I'm going to stand there for 10 minutes waiting for it to get "warm". Will my food explode if I put it in the oven right away? What's the fucking problem?

Shouldn't make a difference in a frozen meal, but it does when cooking certain dishes. For instance, you would want to put a roast in a very hot oven as the heat effectively seals in all of the juices.

Yes, you should always pre-heat the oven. It cooks the food properly. Food always tastes and cooks better in a hot oven.

It's kinda like foreplay. Turn it on, and wait till it gets hot.

Actually it was a joke.

I have a double oven.. a smaller oven above a "regular sized" oven. It's called.. I believe a salamander oven. I use it.. if I bake anything. Uses alot less energy.

now for the preheating question..for a quicky lunch thing nah I would preheat for just a minute, if I were cooking an actual meal then yes preheat until oven is hot..I do my pots and pans this way too..i will let them warm for a few minutes before even adding oil..speaking of oil and things being hot and turned on....
