Just curious. The game is the lamest of all the all star games because very few of the nominees actually play.

That and football is not a sport that can be played just for fun like the NBA all star game and why risk a serious injury for this?

On that note the fact the commissioner remarked players should play harder in it awhile back shows how concerned he is with player safety:rolleyes:

They've tried a lot of tricks to get people to watch including placing it on the week between the title games and the SB, brilliant when you consider the SB teams almost always have a several people elected and won't be allowed to play.

Then it was the no longer AFC/NFC, but drafting teams. This year is so bad some coaches are refusing to go.

So wondering, does anyone watch this?

I think last time I watched it might have been the nineties.

Of course there is a solution the NFL has not yet figured out yet and I'm surprised.

Somehow make it an event that can be played in a fantasy league. Make it fan duel/ draft kings friendly and all of a sudden there will be interest.

Right now fantasy drives the popularity of real football as much if not more than the game itself.

Sadly I'm old enough to remember when football was a sport! Now it's a business. Nobody wants to get hurt in a pro-bowl. What a waste! Haven't watched in years. Laugh at the promos!

Rumblings are that many of the players elected to the Pro Bowl decided to collectively skip it this time. The league is worried.

Likely we'll see another overhaul very soon, or they'll nix it altogether.

Baseball bases home field advantage on it...

;) ;)

Maybe they should do that.

Stop playing on a neutral site.

They would have to go back to AFC/NFC then and it wouldn't work because the NFL won't ever play a SB in Greenbay/Chicago/Foxboro or anywhere that has a real winter.

They were shitting their pants two years ago when it ended up in NJ< but it ended up being a nice day.

They don't want this because they want high scoring games not icebowls and they don't want all the rich assholes who go to the games to be 'cold'

The Pro bowl aired opposite the live musical production of Grease.

I found grease to be far more entertaining:eek:

The players generally worry about their health ever since Robert Edwards that has become more and more of a thought, at least that's what they say.

Someone said "Its a free trip to hawaii" Please these guys can fly anywhere around the world any time they want.

Like I said before this is where the NFL shows itself ingenuousness about health that they get pissed these guys won't risk their careers in a meaningless game. Concussions can happen there like any other game.

I wouldn't be surprised with their track record of not giving a fuck about anything but a dollar to see them try to make your election to the PB mandatory to play or you have to pay a significant fine.

I accidentally turned the game on a few years ago and watched maybe 5 plays total and then changed the channel.

So, no, I haven't "watched" it since . . . forever.

Football is a different sport .... needs a different test of skill ... these guys today are developed to the point of perfection that contact can cause injury ... I'm sure the modern day Feynman could figure out the force they hit each other compared to rugby or those Aussie games ...

Now, if the pro bowl was 1 vs 1 ... shoulder pads only, but real competition, now that would be fun for football ... no one gets hurt (at least, less) but it's man on man, where injury caused from the closest thing to a sprinter's physical perfection can be avoided.
