Does anemia affect ones sex drive?

My wife hasn't been "in the mood" much for a couple of months now. SHe just found out that she is anemic. she starts on iron supplements today.

Does anyone have much experience with anemia? She hopes this is the reason for the drop in her sex drive.

I don't know if anemia decreases your sex drive or not but it certainly can make you weak and tired....that in and of itself can kill your sex drive.

I was pretty young when I had anemia, so I didn't have a measurable sex drive that I was aware of to compare it to. However, I was tired all the time and didn't want to do any of my favorite things. My call would be that it easily could affect your sex drive...you're prolly just to tired and worn out to want to.

I totally agree. I have occasionally been anemic, and it just saps your energy. You just feel tired all the time, which in turn, makes you lose interest in things that would otherwise give you pleasure. Give the iron supplements a good two weeks to get into her system. If she still doesn't feel any differently, she may have something else going on, like a slight case of depression. That can also affect the sex drive. I only mention this because I have been there. I am not diagnosing in any way.

LOL no just a nickname from the Marines.
I can never think of a good nickname to use on boards so I just used what I was called in the Corps---mcveigh, so far I haven't found anyone else using it

Still, I think I'd come up with something better, leatherneck, bulldog, jarhead, semper fi, USMC, lots of good ones.

I mean mcveigh is like using Hitler, or some other nut job.
