I've seen a lot of people for who it holds true that age brings wisdom. And I've seen a lot of people become hateful pig ignorant gas bags in love with the sound of their own voice.

Age and wisdom...

Wisdom is shown not by age I think it is experience, someone that is 18 can have more wisdom, depending on what you view of wisdom is.

What is your view of wisdom and then you can determine if age is important!

Ooo!!! If I were the type to name names I would SO have one for this list!!!!!

Stupid integrity.

Age means you've had the chance to gain more knowledge.... whether use use that wisely and learn from that is a different matter.

With age comes the knowledge that wisdom is the result of screwing up.

With age comes the wisdom to not repeat the things you screwed up before.

With age comes the wisdom that moderation usually hurts less the next morning.

With age comes the wisdom that one never knows enough to be truly wise.

The hateful pig ignorant gas bags were always like that. With age comes the wisdom to stop allowing them to upset you. (By the way, it is an insult to pigs to compare them to these people. Pigs are more intelligent.)

Of course, some of us are smart enough to use other's experience to our advantage and not have to put ourselves through the same shit...

Age & Wisdom...

If the old bag of dirt's wisdom is flawed, like being a socialist, then it still is wisdom, however corrupted.
If the old croon has life information and learning that is generally accepted by society, then they will be called, "wise".
If the dead man walking is like me, everyone usually shake their heads, and slowly back away! :D

I think age is relative, for one. Do you mean age in one lifetime, or the age your soul accumulates over many lifetimes? Those that have been here many times before sometimes are able to think like a person much older than their biological age in this life. I know an 11 year old girl who is pretty damned ancient, as she's not new here. She's been here many times before... and she's a wise, wise little girl.

Some aged people in this life may seem wise, but it may just be them spouting out their ass. Some aged people in this life ARE prematurely wise...

Like I said.. I believe in multiple lives.. and I believe that those who have been here longer, though they might not remember past lives, do have a quality of wisdom to them that many newer souls do not have.

Wisdom is be accrued with experience, but that doesn't mean everyone accrues it as they age. I know plenty of stubborn, ignorant old people. Young people can be intelligent, but not necessarily as wise as someone older with more life experience.

Sure, there are assholes and stupid people of all ages. Some people are in some important ways, wiser at 21 than _others_ are at 41.

One thing I can almost guarantee you though, Sillyman. In another 20 years you will look back... and realize that you didn't know nearly as much now as you thought you did. I don't mean that as a put-down in the slightest -- about your opinions, your worth, your intelligence, or what is unique about you. Savor your youth while you have it, go down the path of aging, it is the most natural path of all. But I can't think of a single person _I_ know in their 40s, who doesn't look at life in a whole different way than they did in their youth. Experience does that to you.

Yup. What he said. :)

Does age bring wisdom

Lord,I hope not.

I'll tell you when I get old.

All depends on the person and their experiences. I know 18 year olds that are more mature and more "adult" than other 50+ that I know. I don't think it's written in stone any where that with age comes wisdom. But I do think that wisdom is a direct result of processing new experiences.

Certainly there is truth there. I'm sure that my outlooks and tastes will change; that's just personal evolution. It doesn't mean what I believe now should be any less valid, just different. :)

Be careful. The Libertarians will jump in your shit for a statement like that.

In fact, I think Libertarianism is a good example to prove your point: age doesn't necassarily bring wisdom; sometimes it brings crypto-fascism.

From TC42:

Ditto.

A huge factor to gaining wisdom is the circumstances, objects, or conditions by which one is surrounded, (your environment).
