"Doctor Who: Powers of Ten" (OOC)

Well I was a toss up between the Baroness and Scarlett

I didn't like Scarlett until later. Oddly, she didn't turn my head at all until she flirted with a WW2 version of Bumblebee? I might be kind of screwed up.

That was also about the time I noticed Snake Eyes.

But when I was very young, it was totally The Baroness.

admittadly.. the skin tight black leather had it's.. perks...

Mindless ramblings.

Okay.

I'ma throw some stuff at the wall here, see what sticks?

Question: who here among us here gathered has not seen the movie "Golden Compass" or read the arguably far better series of books, "His Dark Materials?" Because I'm thinking of employing some imagery from those books for the next arc, and I don't want to look like a total ripoff artist, I gotta give credit where it's due...

(I write fanfic but I don't want to seem like a ripoff artist, man, I think I might be screwed up.)

Salutation: I really want to thank the illustrious Apollion, with whom I write the somewhat experimental "Allons-y!" Mostly I want to thank him for letting me use that space to brainstorm and sort out the ideas I had for post-"CoE" Torchwood Three, what happened to The Hub and so forth, but also, really-really, I want to thank him for inspiring and crystalising my ideas for Torchwood Four. Originally, I was going to put it in The Himalayas or Atlantis or something, but his intriguing Time Lord called The Searcher suggested there might be a Torchwood in Australia, and I was like, yes. So. "Without whom none of this would be possible."

(Which brings me to my next point...)

Exposition:

Torchwood Three, as suggested by the IC, is being dug out by UNIT as sort of repayment to Torchwood for the short end of the stick they got stuck with in "CoE," not to mention someone's got to keep an eye on that ruddy Rift. Gwen is there, and is at this point, I think, seven months pregnant, as this thread takes place a month after the end of "CoE." Rhys is there, too, earnestly attempting to keep an eye on his crazy mama-bear of a wife. Gwen is attempting, in turn, to put together a new team from past associates of Torchwood and, occasionally, UNIT.

This includes, along with Ms. Gwen Cooper and Rhys Alun Williams:

Doctor Martha Milligan-Jones: somewhat on the outs with her newish husband Tom, of late, Martha's been brought back in to serve as medical consultant for New Three. Tom kind of objects to this, as he was kind of hoping Martha would be done with all that extraterrestrial nonsense once they got married, and he's being kind of a bastard about it. Martha's soldiering on, however, doing her duty, that's what she does.

Mickey Smith: As brilliant with mechanical things as he is with computers, and a now-experienced Torchwood soldier from his time on the parallel Earth of "Pete's World," Mickey is as valuable in the tech support department as he is carrying a big smeg-off gun against armies of Cybermen and Daleks. Presently he's designing a new SUV for New Three. And, with his newfound sense of confidence, it has not escaped his notice that Martha is gorgeous and undervalued by her overseas husband.

Professor Malcolm Taylor: An absolute genius with next-level physics, just ask The Doctor, Malcolm is the world's biggest Doctor fanboy and is the best man for the job of repairing The Hub's Rift Manipulator and taking over for the late lamented beloved Tosh. (He actually literally squeed when he saw her design for the Time Lock.)

Captain John Hart: Having resolved to become a better man, John has travelled The Earth for a time. He still loves Jack Harkness in a deep and unsubtle way, and it's totally broken John's heart that Jack has left Earth without him. John possesses the wrist-strap once worn by Jack's brother Gray, but because Gray had installed isomorphic controls, John does not have access to the teleport or time-travel functions of the built-in Vortex Manipulator. John is struggling desperately not to fall off of the murder-rehab wagon, and is seeking some form of immortality so as to be better suited to Jack's great and terrible life.

Lunar's also had a terrific notion for a UNIT bureaucrat trying to make sure UNIT's rebuilding dollars are being properly spent, that should be fun.

I know, I know, I've put way too much thought into this. But I figured, since no-one snapped up these characters when we first started playing...

Also, I've been hoping and praying for a "DW" video set to "Fireflies" by Owl City for awhile now, and this one has really impressed me.

eh... Martha married Mickey.. at least I could've sworn that's what End of Time showed

.. and they do make a cute couple in my humble opinion..

and I've seen Golden Compass

.... hmm *thinks*

still ironing out Donna... I keep restarting how to write it all

Yes, um.

The way I figured it, Martha was on honeymoon at the time of "CoE," but they don't say with whom. So I figure she's married Tom Milligan, but that's not working out so good, and Mickey's proving to her to be the better man. So, this is laying the groundwork for them getting married, running off to Blackpool or somewheres and getting wedded, and going "freelance alien hunter." But that hasn't happened... yet. :: sheepish :: I think the time period of "End of Time" is still months away yet...

And I agree with you. One of the cutest "Who" couples since Susan hooked up with David.

As for "Golden Compass," awesome. Good.

And take your time, sweets, like I said, I am perfectly happy to edit to accommodate. Your writing is always worth the wait, it doesn't matter what fandom you're tackling.

:: grins :: I don't despise her. But some folks do, I figured the warning would be fair.

And, with regards to being a match for Jack... ennit just? Heehee...

tch that's not hard... Jean-Luc Picard is tons better

True! Oh, so very true.

But, arguably, without cowboys like JT Kirk, diplomats like Jean-Luc would not have had a leg to stand on.

I liked it when they worked together in "Generations." And sometimes in William Shatner's novels, he has them team up, that's pretty cool.

Chakotay woulda made an awesome captain.

(I mean, a Starfleet captain. Obviously, he was a Maquis captain before all that Badlands noise hit the fan...)

YEah.. all the fan fic has Riker as like gay or bi.. and chkotay is hard as nails and going for girls. so i think they Riker is a tad.. softer.

Not that i have issues with gay men. They make great friends. And they give great makeup tips.

And some let you practice giving them head.
